Nope, not at all, and I've so far heard from more than 10 jews who don't think so either. Nobody talked much about that statement until this firing, which tells me people are just reaching, which they clearly are, to justify an overly sensitive rationale. There was plenty of coverage of it back then. He didn't just say he should have played. It was bordering on anti-Semitism. I didn't hear him go off on Christians who don't go to church every week but observe Easter or Christmas. And I certainly didn't hear him talk about how Christmas is all about getting money and gifts. The money comment was jaw dropping. And not marrying a Jewish woman? I don't think I could have made that up. I wasn't aware that Lyons job was to tell us what being Jewish meant and to trash those who didn't meet his requirements.
