  1. A few notes from a Nebraska broadcaster who spoke to Jim Delany: -A 9 game schedule likely won't be implemented until 2015 rather than the 2012-2014 timeframe he mentioned at media day. That has big OOC scheduling implications. -It's "hard to see" a geographic split at this point. -The TV contract for the championship game is still up for grabs.
  2. also known as the 2nd most passing yards on the Bears roster. That, unfortunately, is not a selling point. Hey, I tried to look for the silver lining. I actually checked RBs and Hester's throwing stats too (Chester Taylor threw a 4-yard completion once). Brad Maynard has 94 career passing yards with an impressive 2 TD to 0 INT ratio.
  3. Still too long. I've got the Northwestern Meet the Team night to look forward to a week from Friday, but I really wish the Big Ten would finalize and announce the divisions and 2011 schedules to help hold me over. Thank goodness for the Big Ten Network, at least. Tweets all day tomorrow from practice and then the 1-hour practice program airs a week later.
  4. Oh hot damn. I put in 619 on my DirecTV receiver and it brought up FSC HD. I didn't realize it was live on DirecTV yet. GolTV, as well.
  5. Very nice leaping catch for Knox.
  6. For those interested in Big Ten revenue sharing:
  7. The new Meadowlands looks like a nice venue for soccer. Large but intimate. Very little extra space around the pitch. Yeah, that should've been a penalty.
  8. Even more heat on UNC: I'm not sure why the NCAA hasn't just set up a permanent location in the SE yet.
  9. 2010 ACC/Big Ten Challenge Schedule Monday, November 29 Virginia at Minnesota, 6 p.m., ESPN2 Tuesday, November 30 Iowa at Wake Forest, 6 p.m., ESPNU Georgia Tech at Northwestern, 6 p.m., ESPN2 Ohio State at Florida State, 6:30 p.m., ESPN Michigan at Clemson, 8 p.m., ESPN2 North Carolina at Illinois, 8:30 p.m., ESPN Wednesday, December 1 Indiana at Boston College, 6:15 p.m., ESPNU North Carolina State at Wisconsin, 6:15 p.m., ESPN2 Purdue at Virginia Tech, 6:30 p.m., ESPN Maryland at Penn State, 8:15 p.m., ESPN2 Michigan State at Duke, 8:30 p.m., ESPN
  10. The price we pay is having to drive through corn. Besides, you get an easy drive to Maryland coming up to see Penn State on the road "at Indiana." Speaking of home and homes, has anyone mentioned the Michigan vs. Alabama game at Cowboy Stadium in 2012? It apparently could be announced as early as today. It appears they weren't able to work out a home and home but will both get a ton of money this way.
  11. NU starts practice today. I'm giddy. And the new uniforms should be unveiled sometime this week, I believe. See you in hell, USC stripes. I'm rather sad about this year's short road trip potential in Northwestern's schedule. Trips to Illinois and Purdue (a regular trip I'd lose with geographically split divisions) were great last year. This year, only Bloomington is semi-reasonable before the season finale at Madison. And Madison will be a tough trip. Plus, you can't fly down the interstate when going up to Madison like you can to Champaign or West Lafayette. Just 5 games in Evanston will kind of suck, but I think playing at Wrigley will more than make up for that. Also, the first half of a home and home with Rice is in Houston this year without the game being on TV (webcast only). Not to mention that the opener at Vandy is ESPN3/ESPN GamePlan only. I can't wait until I no longer have to worry about TV coverage of an OOC game. @Army might be an issue next year, but with home and homes coming up in the next few years against BC, Syracuse (again), Vandy (again), Stanford, and Cal, it shouldn't be an issue for long. Hopefully the divisions and future schedules will be released at some point this month. That would eat up my attention for a day pretty easily, making the wait for September 4th more tolerable.
  12. He injured his hamstring a week ago and was apparently a week or two from being able to take snaps again.
  13. There is supposed to be a SRO crowd tonight in Bridgeview.
  14. I believe you meant to ask why anyone would pay the slightest attention to anything that Favre says at all.
  15. I don't like Lane Kiffin. Well, to be fair, the Tennessee athletic department was in charge of hiring Kiffin. Not sure what they expected aside from a brief stay and NCAA investigation.
  16. NCAA is investigating Tennessee and Miami, as well.
  17. Get out your Larry Johnson jerseys, Chicago hipsters:
  18. USC FB Stanley Havili broke the cheek of CB TJ Bryant, who underwent surgery. Don't worry, though. USC says it's all in the name of leadership.
  19. Oh, it's not going away: And for good measure, the Sun-Times finishes with this:
  20. It is and it's what I want to see, but I'd still hate to lose our protected rivalry with Purdue. West Lafayette makes for a nice and easy road trip.
  21. West Virginia's turn (courtesy of Rich Rodriguez). They got hit with a Notice of Allegations, which includes 5 major violations and 1 secondary violation.
  22. This will be the last weekend of the year without football.
  23. It made its rounds pretty quickly. Now this is what makes the internet valuable. Of course, then there was this Kentucky blogger's twitter post: Figures.
