  1. He's done drugs. Just imagine if he was making his debut in St. Louis.
  2. Looks like a negotiating ploy by Hendry. They were aware this was going to happen before the talks hit the home stretch in the last few days. He's just trying to get Z to settle for a little bit less in order to just get it done. If it was going to be a real issue, Jim would've made sure it got done on Sunday.
  3. There is actually a convenient "Joe Morgan Is An Idiot Thread" stickied in rants. Premium Non-Premium
  4. luckily it should be a few degrees warmer when the Cubs open at home on Monday though :D Oops. Meant Monday. It has since been upgraded a tad, though, but I wouldn't expect it to feel much above 40 if the sun isn't out.
  5. Here's the Tribune press release (pdf) on the planned sale of the Cubs. Of note is that they also plan to sell their 25% stake in Comcast SportsNet Chicago. The TV deals could get interesting. Assuming they wouldn't just be selling it to the new owner of the Cubs, of course.
  6. I doubt it. And I'm sure Hendry and the Cubs have been well aware that this was likely going to happen during the negotiating process. Let's just hope it doesn't really hurt next offseason, though.
  7. I think the odds are the Cubs will be worse-off in terms of payroll longterm compared to the growth we've seen in recent years. My main hope is that the owners are going to be smarter. Sounded like he's buying the Trib for $34 a share.
  8. Nice. According to ChicagoBears.com, the Bears confirmed that not only is Mike Brown very much in their plans for 2007, but he'll be starting, as well.
  9. He'll actually be introduced Monday night. Not only that, but the Fire will be holding a fan greeting with him. That'll be interesting. Am I completely off base in having a little bit off hope that at 34 years of age he's grown up just a bit?
  10. Schedules the rest of the way: Bulls 4/4 @ Detroit 4/6 vs. New Jersey 4/8 @ Toronto 4/10 vs. New York 4/13 vs. Charlotte 4/15 @ Washington 4/18 @ New Jersey Cavs 4/3 @ Minnesota 4/5 vs. Miami 4/6 @ Washington 4/8 @ Detroit 4/12 vs. New Jersey 4/14 vs. Atlanta 4/17 @ Philadelphia 4/18 vs. Milwaukee
  11. Awesome. We're not dead yet!
  12. Wow. The Celtics tie it up with :38 seconds left and take the lead as West makes both FTs on a shooting foul with just 1 second left!!
  13. No LeBron or Pierce in this game. Bad news. Hopefully Hughes and Pavlovic can hit jumpers well enough. What happened to LeBron? Don't worry, the Celtics will go into Durant-Oden mode and blow it in the fourth quarter. He had some soreness in his knee(nothing serious) and "general fatigue". *shrug* It's called "we just played OT the night before and now we're playing Boston" mode. For those not watching the game on tape delay, Tyrus had quite the steal and open left handed dunk.
  14. No LeBron or Pierce in this game. Bad news. Hopefully Hughes and Pavlovic can hit jumpers well enough. Considering the Cavs have outscored the Celtics 15-4 in the 4th and tied it up, I wouldn't be too worried.
  15. Keep an eye on the Celtics/Cavs game. Celtics still lead 82-78 with under 9 minutes to play.
  16. 76 and sunny tomorrow at the GABP. Don't expect that kind of weather when the Cubs open at Wrigley, though. After possible mid-week snow, gametime temps may not crack 40 on Friday.
  17. Thanks for the info. Hopefully Mark does piggyback to start out. Have you heard anything about how stretched out they think his arm is right now? I can't wait to see what Ceda can do in the rotation.
  18. "Shouldn't Coach K be here for all these 'Dukies' on the floor?" Nice one, Larrivee.
  19. Still pissed about that loss... But the Bulls took care of the Hawks 105-97 this afternoon. It will be on tape delay at 5 on WCIU. Two things about the playoff tickets. There is a presale starting at 10 AM on Wednesday. I'll post the password later if I can get it. It looks like there are two, an "internet presale" and a "visa presale," but they're at the same time. Last year, the password was "PLAYOFF," so I'd imagine it'll be something easy to figure out regardless. In addition, the cheap seats cost $12 for the first round and $18 for the second. Does anyone know if there's a playoff schedule out there or have they not even determined the dates yet?
  20. In a not-so-popular move (understatement), Cuauhtémoc Blanco is expected to sign with the Fire on Tuesday, but won't be with the team until late April or May. The reports don't look to be April Fool's Day-related. Let's hope for everyone's sake that he lives up to whatever contract he gets.
  21. Whenever I got a new 5950, I'd have to get a 7 1/2 because it was going to shrink. When I first got it, though, it was way too big, so it took a month or two of waiting for it to shrink to the right size...before it would eventually shrink to be too small. I'd imagine everyone will have to go at least one size smaller than they were used to with the wool hats.
  22. It's an easy way to set an arbitrary deadline to push management into getting it done. Of course, it's often not a deadline, but it seems like both sides have come to see it as a natural point to aim for.
  23. Hopefully he'll just be building up arm strength in the bullpen and move to the rotation shortly.
  24. Apparently the best UCLA can do is have a clear charge turn into a double foul.
  25. Wouldn't it have just been easier for Afflalo to be suspended for this game if the refs didn't want him on the court this badly?
