Pie is 3-3 so far today with a triple, HR, and 2 RBIs. That brings his BA up to an even .400 and his OPS up to 1.062. Cotts with a strong outing, going 4 inning while giving up 0 runs on 1 hit, 2 walks, and 2 strikeouts. He also induced 9 groundouts to just 1 flyout.

I would have loved to have seen Nolasco. I just hope surgery isn't in his near future. Even if things heal up in a timely manner, he probably won't see the mound again before the All Star break. Mitre has been very good this year with a 1.89 ERA (10 ER, 19 R), 1.11 WHIP, 31/9 K/BB, 3 HR allowed, .243/.289/.331 against, and a 3.13 G/F ratio. The most interesting Mitre stats, though, are his splits against lefties. Lefties have killed him throughout his career, but not this year. He has a .239/.314/.370/.683 line against righties in 79 ABs and a .231/.288/.308/.596 line against lefties in 74 ABs. Compare that to his three-year splits of .243/.305/.381/.686 against righties and .349/.434/.552/.986 against lefties and it's quite an improvement. He's coming off a very good performance against the Mets where he went 7.2 IP, 8 H, 1 R (0 ER), and 8/1 K/BB. He did throw 118 pitches, though, so they'll (hopefully) be careful with him.

Yeah, that's certainly what it sounds like.

He was cruising before losing the shutout on an 0-2 2-out HR off a fastball in the 7th. He was tiring in the 8th and walked his only man (Martin on a 3-2 fastball just off the plate) with 2 outs before getting pulled. The run scored on a borderline error by Cesar.

Lou sure doesn't know how to use his bullpen. Kent really shouldn't have been that surprised to see a slider. He looked like he never saw that pitch before. That was a meatball.
