  1. I can't wait to get back to Ryan Field under the lights tomorrow night. It sounds like Evanston has indeed passed something preventing NU from hosting Ohio State at night, so that leaves just 8 Big Ten teams that we're allowed to host at night after Wisconsin became the first ban several years ago. No Big Ten games at night this year, though. Even though there still won't be any students on campus for another week, it'll make for a good atmosphere. And not only that, but with likely record lows tonight, we'll be in store for great football weather. By the way, Jones is already enrolled at NIU.
  2. It sounds like NIU is his likely destination. If he wants to come to Evanston, it won't be as QB.
  3. Northwestern plays Syracuse too? The Orange are working their way through the Big 10 it seems (Illinois this year, PSU and NU next year, etc.) The four-game series begins next season. They come to Evanston in 2008 and 2013 while we go there in 2009 and 2012. The deal was announced 2-3 years ago, I believe.
  4. I was wondering why they still had the Catalonia match on ussoccer.com.
  5. Northwestern just announced new home and home series with Rice and BC. NU plays in Houston on Sept. 18, 2010 and then will host the Owls on Nov. 19, 2011. They'll play at Boston College on Sept. 3, 2011 and then host them on Sept. 15, 2012. Next September is the first of the Syracuse series, as well. In addition, the Ohio road game for next season is now a home game, giving up 7 home games for consecutive seasons. Not that Ohio will be much of a challenge, but it'll be nice having 7 home games for Sutton and Bacher's senior seasons (not to mention no PSU or Wisconsin).
  6. http://www.mininova.org/tor/881002 Thanks. Only 1 seeder, though. The two places I had bookmarked both seem to be down. I tried watching online during the game, but I couldn't pay enough attention.
  7. no, that's a win/lose. what people want is a win/win/win (where I win for successfully negotiating an office dispute)..... The situation overall is a lose/lose. There will be significant enough flaws for any system, whether the current one, the previous one, or the next one.
  8. Making the championship game more meaningful with a playoff system makes the regular season less meaningful. And considering that is one of the reasons why college football is so popular, it's a lose/lose.
  9. NU is looking to go 3-0 for the first time since 1962 (wins over Notre Dame, Miami, and South Carolina the year before Parseghian left). It'll be nice to play under the lights, but since we're only allowed one night game a year, it's a shame it can't be a Big Ten game. Either way, it'll be interesting. Sutton is probably 50/50 with an ankle injury and Eddie Simpson, our only linebacker with any kind of speed, won't dress. They didn't want to run the ball at all against Nevada, but I pray that they'll have some faith in Roberson and not throw it nearly as much as last week. And hopefully Bacher can bounce back a bit and continue his turnover-free playing.
  10. Where's a good place to download the game?
  11. Click clack
  12. The injuries are quite discouraging, though. And the receivers didn't play nearly as well as I would have hoped. Let's hope that changes and Olsen can make his debut next week. I'm not overly discouraged about the run game, though. A lot of the credit should go to SD for that.
  13. No, they have no idea what the extent of the injury is.
  14. Costly turnovers (2 bad mental mistakes and 2 bad physical mistakes) to go along with two potentially costly injuries. Not a good way to start the season.
  15. Dusty is out with a left knee injury.
  16. Mike Brown is out with a sprained knee and now Dusty is down.
  17. And now Mike Brown injured his ankle. Wonderful. Unless he is just delaying things.
  18. Nice flagrant holding, too.
  19. These are not hard hits.
  20. That was a favorable spot. Not sure he actually made it.
  21. Consider this a final warning for EVERYONE. The rules about these threads have not changed from last year. Don't troll.
  22. Posting for the sake of starting arguments isn't allowed.
  23. Unbelievable........
