It was nice to see the Fire do so well offensively today, even if it was against Toronto FC. They could've easily won 4-0 or 5-0. The Chicago Trophy's attendace was...horrible. Just under 17,000 for the final. They ended up with a 2 for 1 ticket promotion. The Fire will be considered for next year's tournament, which will take place at least in 2008 and 2009.
Wow. Not bad. I'm watching the NFL Network Game of the Week coverage of the NFC Championship game right now and recalling what an amazing evening that was. I cannot be any more pumped for this season than I am right now.
He'll only get hit harder. The main issue is his inability to strike anyone out. Even with a healthy ground ball to fly ball ratio, he's just not that good right now. And he wasn't that good in college. If he's ready for a callup sometime in 2009, I think we'd have to be thrilled with his development. It would be quite unlikely that the contract he received will ever be justified, but it's also not his fault many had some ridiculous expectations for him.
It's interesting just how similar Lilly and Hill have been this season. Lilly: 21 GS, 132.2 IP, 14 HR, 108/32 K/BB, 1.09 WHIP, .229 BAA, 3.46 ERA Hill: 19 GS, 118.0 IP, 19 HR, 105/38 K/BB, 1.14 WHIP, .224 BAA, 3.58 ERA
It sounded like they had a basic agreement once the deadline passed, so I'm not that surprised. It's certainly nice to have it done two days before camp begins, though.
Boise's game wrap isn't up yet. Tennesse's game from yesterday will resume at 5:15 today, followed by the regularly scheduled game, which will be 7 innings. Daytona will also play a double header today, starting at 5:05 EST. They were rained out yesterday.
I don't know. Blanco made a nice move on that goal, yet he still managed to look like a 50-year-old while doing it. That's the only highlight from the game I saw, though.
I know it's been mentioned before, but here's more about Maynard's offseason: And for those with the NFL Network, they are replaying a condensed version of the Bears/Seahawks playoff game from 4:30-6:00 today.
MLS should hold out for a bit more than $2.5 million. Have there been any other reported offers? LA's new kits look much better than those hideous green and yellow ones.
