  1. Fitz is pretty darn busy at the convention. More news out of Purdue. Apparently the Lafayette Journal Courier is now reporting that Wisconsin's Paul Chryst is having second thoughts about being "named" Tiller's successor and Eastern Kentucky HC Danny Hope (that's a jump from Chryst to Hope) is now the front-runner.
  2. Heh, was gonna post that. He's one of 2 assistants that Walker demanded be brought back as a condition of his re-signing. I don't know what to think about him since he has worked with pretty solid veteran college LBs (and behind a great DL) but the results were good. I don't think you can get him w/o promotion (even if he's a Midwestern guy) but I wouldn't mind his defection since it'd open the door to Ken Norton, Jr. returning to UCLA. Probably not, no, but I don't think it's inconceivable for there to be a situation where UCLA really wants Norton back, they "push" Bullough out, Fitz decides to promote current LBers coach Randy Bates to the DC position, and then brings in Bullough for LBers coach. Of course, I'd imagine Bullough would take a nasty pay cut. I couldn't get anything regarding his recruiting skills. It's easier to recruit at UCLA and considering all of the 4-stars that you guys get, his few recruits don't really stand out among the rest of the class.
  3. Calling Raisin. What can you tell me about Chuck Bullough? It looks like Fitz has some interest in him, although it could be for LBers coach and not DC:
  4. A little too excited. I could never root for Hawai'i with their fanbase. The negative media attention they've received, albeit sparse, has certainly been well deserved by all accounts I've read. Obviously it's not all of their fans, but it's a bad place for visiting fans to watch a game because of an ever-present group. Ahh, I guess I'm not the only one who has read about a certain group of Raider-like* Hawaii fans at home games. *Apologies, soccer. I've heard about this too. Can anyone enlighten on this some more? They have a history of starting fights, throwing things, and shouting insults at innocent fans of the other team. Visiting bands have been an especially easy target for throwing things.

  6. After a quick google search, it looks like someone posted the same stat that they heard on MLB Radio on Friday. I believe it was on a Yankees message board. But yeah, I just can't see that being true. Perhaps he had an 0-40 record in the 60 games he had given up 2 runs or less and went into the 7th inning excluding the games he won? It's a poorly organized stat, but if there were 60 such games that he didn't win, losing 2/3rds of them still shows pretty terrible support from the offense and bullpen.
  7. Awesome. I think at this rate, I might just have to give up baseball by the time I turn 35. My brain just can't take it.
  8. Watching them over the past couple of years, I've started to really like the way they play. Don't know if it was more June Jones or the team, but I began pulling for them a little this year. Wonder who they're looking at for a new head coach? Well, they won't have an AD to conduct the search. Herman Frazier is stepping down tomorrow.
  9. Matt Limegrover and six other assistant coaches are leaving SIU to join Jerry Kill at NIU. I was hoping NU would at least take a look at Limegrover. Hopefully they did.
  10. I'll probably clear out the remaining Monk episodes on my DVR instead of watching the game.
  11. If Gus Johnson ever called a game winning HR in Wrigley in the TV booth, you wouldn't be able to hear Ron Santo over in the radio booth.
  12. Interesting. I'd imagine it's related to the Figo rumors.
  13. June Jones has signed a 5 year, $10 million contract with SMU.
  14. Some interesting rumors out of West Lafayette and Madison:
  15. Northwestern would actually be leading Ohio State right now if we could hit an open shot. Getting the open shots hasn't been a problem at all, but none of them are going down, including the short range shots.

That non-call evened out with that terrible "foul" call that sent Miller to the line late in the game. Miller went up to shoot the ball and he lost the ball, yet - I think it was Tyrus - was whistled for a foul. Nice to finally win a close game. We haven't done much of that this year. There were definitely some terrible calls, although the Bulls probably got away with murder twice on the last possession if Duhon did get Miller before the buzzer went off. I just don't know how much more I can take of seeing Ben Wallace in the game in those situations. There's no reason for it.
  17. Is this the new away kit? http://knvbshop.nl/product_images/2214406200.jpg

Ah, lovely. Ben Wallace is in the game with 6 seconds left and the Bulls have the ball. Good call there. Maybe he can break the goose egg and give the Bulls the lead. EDIT: And yet his point (yes, point) is the game winner. Of course, he nearly blew that on a very obvious foul on the final shot.

It wouldn't be the final minute of a close Bulls game this season without Gordon passing up two open guys to take a terrible off-balance shot near the end of the shot clock.
  20. They do. At Wrigley? I don't think so. If I remember correctly, they display pitch velocity on the small signs underneath the 2nd level, one on each side. They may also show it on one of the larger displays on the facade. I'd like to know why they only show pitch count on the display down the first base line, though, and not the one down the third base line.
  21. The move does make me wonder why Hendry would want to get move a speedy guy like Pagan, though.
  22. I'd imagine they can add those seats pretty quickly. I guess we'll see if the new signs cover up the rest of the upper deck facade.

I think throwing oneself backwards to the floor while chucking it up is a great shot to take in the final 30 seconds of a tied game, Gordon.
  24. Interesting. Blunk did a good job with the Cubs.
