  1. They go on sale at 10 AM online and over the phone. I believe the box office at Wrigley starts at 8 AM.
  2. I can't remember what the plug-in is called, but there are a bunch of tab managing plug-ins for Firefox that let you open tons of tabs while keeping them all visible. Then all you have to do is constantly scroll through all the Firefox windows and look for a tab that got through. I've never used IE7, though, so I don't know if it works just as well in there. In terms of popularity, the Saturday White Sox game, the Saturday Cardinals game in August, and Opening Day were probably the top 3 games last year and will be so again this year. If you have hundreds of windows open, you shouldn't get shut out of the Friday or Saturday games or Opening Day, though.
  3. From cubs.com: Ryan Theriot from a marketing point of view: yes Ryan Theriot from a baseball point of view: no
  4. Minus small ball/grit/grinder
  5. Has Ramirez ever been used in a Cubs ad campaign before?
  6. Yeah. They really jacked up the prices for UD Box seats over the last few years. Personally, I just go for either UD Reserved or bleachers. And if you do it on the day tickets go on sale, you can usually get good UD Reserved seats while everyone else is pulling up worse Terrace Reserved.
  7. Yeah, at least DeRosa was consistent in his career year: 2006 Home - .299/.358/.441/.799 2006 Road - .293/.355/.470/.825 Byrd, on the other hand, is only coming off a career year at home, but not on the road: 2007 Home - .356/.406/.510/.916 2007 Road - .259/.304/.410/.714 Although for Byrd, maybe a .714 OPS on the road is a career year, as well.
  8. I'd rather see Murton in CF than Byrd, who is, for a lack of a better phrase, quite bad. He put up very good numbers at home in 2003 and 2007, but that's it. The guy had a .259/.304/.410/.714 line away from Texas last year. We can get that by staying within the system and keeping Murton.
  9. Link Thanks. I blame Garwilly for unnecessarily making me start to worry a bit. Last year I didn't have to leave for work until 11 AM, so I had a successful hour of ticket buying before that. But this year I won't be in a rush. I figure I may pick up a cheap router and borrow a crappy laptop to see how many windows I can have open. I figure I should be able to easily get over 500, although I need to check to see how much memory a Firefox window with 40 or 50 tabs takes up. Not that much. I had an easy 600 windows open last year on a middle of the road laptop. 18 firefox windows with 34 tabs apiece or something like that That's what it seemed like the last year or two, but I've been convinced that I do better with IE windows, so I've usually just loaded up with IE6, which isn't the best memory efficient plan.

  11. According to FOXSports.com, Raisin will wake up to some very happy news:
  12. I'm an idiot. I forgot about it, but I also forgot that I set my DVR last week to record it. Going to ussoccer.com to see what happened wasn't a great idea for someone who didn't want to know what happened before I watched it.
  13. What a comically horrible call to give UNC the ball with 10 seconds left.
  14. True, they would have to take that into consideration. I don't believe they've opened the season since 2001, which was before they moved to Tickets.com. However, it only means that they'd have to get tickets out a half-week earlier. And they have to coordinate the date with Tickets.com to make sure they have "enough" dedicated bandwidth for their on-sale. I know that they don't start Will Call pickup until mid-March, but hopefully it doesn't change things too much. I will not be happy if it isn't 2/22.
  15. It should be February 22nd this year, as it has been the Friday of that week for a while now. However, they won't officially release the on-sale information until early February. If I recall correctly, it was February 6th last year when they issued the press release. I already scheduled the day off from work for the 22nd.
  16. Nearly $700 for a pair of bleacher tickets for those 9 games. Those prices were scary. It's a great idea and it will certainly keep resellers away, but I wonder why they did this without notice.
  17. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v11/imoriginallikeu/firejerseynew1.jpg I don't know how they could mess it up, but they did. I think having "BEST BUY" so small hurts, but the classic Fire stripe just looks awkward. It looks like they just wrote Best Buy on a sheet of paper and taped it to the chest.
  18. The new Fire road kit: http://chicago.fire.mlsnet.com/images/2008/01/15/dVaenHsC.jpg Pretty meh. They'll look better at home, though: http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f243/fire_fotos/Photo_111407_001.jpg
  19. What can Wisconsin fans tell me about Mike Hankwitz as a DC/coach/recruiter? There's a report that will be named NU's new DC.
  20. You got two replies.
  21. I still don't think Sandberg is ready. Of course, if Lou stays for 2-3 more years after this one, then Sandberg might be ready. If he continues to manage. I'd hate to see Cubs fans turn on him if he didn't work out though and I'm not a believer in the hometown guy coming back to play or manage thing. Pub wise it would be nice but it seems more often than not it comes back to burn both sides. Once Hendry gets his extension, I'm not sure I see him going with Sandberg, either. Not that I'd want him managing this team anytime soon, of course.
  22. Wow, WSU actually missed a 3.
  23. Longtime Fire assistant Denis Hamlett will be named the Fire's new HC. In addition, the Trib is reporting that the rumors of the Fire reaching a jersey sponsorship deal with Best Buy are true. Luis Arroyave speculated that part of Best Buy's motivation to make the deal comes from the fact that they're opening stores in Mexico this year.
  24. Northwestern has reportedly filled its Offensive Coordinator vacancy first, hiring Bowling Green OC Mick McCall. He was promoted to be the Falcons' OC last year after spending four years as their QB coach. Needless to say, there's not a lot of info out there about him other than he's familiar with a run-first spread (which we need to get back to) and spent a lot of time coaching HS football.
  25. Bullough is staying at UCLA. The LA Daily News is saying he was offered the Northwestern DC job, not LB coach. Thanks for the update. I hope that at least one of Tulsa's co-OCs is interested in the OC spot in Evanston. Either one of them would make a pretty interesting candidate.
