  1. Open up the URL into one tab and just hit control+alternate+T. You can do it before 9:30 and use the "reload all tabs" function of tab mix plus, as well. It'll take up a lot of memory to begin with since they'll be loading at the same time, but they'll begin to stagger out a bit pretty quickly. Where is the "reload all tabs" option? Thanks for all your insights into this, Jon! I don't think it's a standard feature of Firefox, but if you have Tab Mix Plus (or possibly in a different tab management plugin), just right-click on one of the tabs and that option will be available. If it isn't, go into Tab Mix Plus options --> menu --> Tab Context Menu --> and check reload all tabs. I'm not sure if I have an older version or not, though, but it should be pretty similar. Also, you can decide use the "protect tab" feature to remove the close tab button on the tab. The yellow icon it places on the tab may also make it easier to keep track of which tab you're working on in case you go to a different window. The other thing is that like always, be prepared to have to hit refresh a lot to resubmit your ticket request once you get through. It can take a while to actually get tickets, but last year they seemed to dedicate a lot more bandwidth towards processing orders once tickets are reserved, so losing an order shouldn't be a big problem unless you take too long to enter in your information. And again, double check your cubs.com login information and wallet preferences.
  2. The tab or window title will change from "Virtual Waiting Room" to "Chicago Cubs Ticketing." If you have a bunch of windows and/or tabs open, just look for the first letter to change from a "V" to a "C," although it will display http://frontline... while it's refreshing.

  4. Title of the article: "Overpaying a player once is OK, as long as you learn from it" Reason for Lee being on the list: Well that makes sense...

    The NBA thread

Sunday night vs. Houston on ESPN and then March 2nd at Cleveland on ABC. They were supposed to be on ESPN tomorrow vs. Denver - is that off? If they were, they're not now. It'll only be on WGN, but not the Superstation.

  7. If that works tomorrow I will be very happy. It's just the direct link to the VWR, though. That will just make it easier to open up new windows. By the way, if anyone is looking to go through StubHub for Cubs or other tickets, check out this thread for discount codes.
  8. I'm not sure if I prefer the nameless jerseys or not, but I agree. I don't see a reason to change.
  9. Here's the correct link: http://frontline.purchasenow3.tickets.com/buy/MLBEventInfo?orgid=5&agency=MLB&trxstate=8
  10. If I celebrated Christmas, I'd imagine that it'd be a lot like the morning Cubs tickets go on sale. I look forward to this day for a long time.
  11. [see post below for correct link]
  12. And then you can decrease the number of rows once you get through so you can "maximize" the window before increasing it again once the purchase is complete. But use the time before the VWR starts accepting people to figure out what your computer is capable of.
  13. Also increase the maximum number of rows to display. But just try opening up a ton of blank tabs and make sure that they're manageable.
  14. It was another good day to be at home watching TV.
  15. So it looks like there won't be a lottery this year, but those dugout box seats have skyrocketed.
  16. Aside from opening day, it does look like there was a sellout at the GABP for a Saturday game. I doubt it went quickly and the others didn't sell out, though.
  17. Does anyone have other tips to post? I'm either going to update the first post with all the tips or create a new thread that will have the link, as well, once it's up.
  18. I'm glad that ESPN finally listened to the fan mail and stopped showing the score of the tape delay ESPN Classic game during the live game on ESPN2. It made for a much more enjoyable afternoon.
  19. I'd imagine they're legit, as well. Berrian's may be closer to what he's looking for than the Briggs offer, though, but hopefully they can get the others wrapped up quickly. Good news so far, though.
  20. You could add "of ESPN's Baseball Tonight" after the name of every person quoted in that article and I wouldn't think twice about it.
  21. The 42 ticket limit has been around for at least a few years. This year will be the same as the last few and I don't think last year's division title will change much. I'd recommend seeing how far you can push your computer at 9:30 since you have 30 minutes before tickets actually go on sale. Install a tab manager like Tab Mix Plus, which will allow you to better manage a ton of VWR tabs in each Firefox window, and get a sense of what will work for your computer. If your computer gets really slow or crashes, you'd still have plenty of time to restart the test. Has anyone ever had luck with Firefox? I have never got through using them. Tried equal amount of windows of IE and Firefox last year. I never got through with Firefox. Could be coincidence though. I've always had better luck with IE, but we're two of the few to have disproportionate success through IE. Unless IE7 has tab management abilities that allow you to load up each window with 50-75 tabs and be able to keep them relatively visible with no scrolling necessary, Firefox is probably your best bet.

  23. You won't find any when tickets go on sale, although I've never tried checking on the least popular games after getting through the VWR the first time. What game(s) were you thinking of? You used to be able to pull up some of those seats shortly before the games, but it seems like those opportunities have become pretty rare for weekend games. I was thinking of the 4/17 game against the Reds. I figured a ticket (only need one) would be relatively easy to get since it's a day game at the beginning of the year against a non-rival, but I wasn't sure. Not sure what will be available for a game like that. However, you may want to think about waiting for the dugout or bleacher box lottery on sale date. I'm sure someone here will get a first or second chance email and can help you out.
