  1. Thanks for the link. That was well done.
  2. No, Boise is light years ahead of everyone else (they've been doing this since at least 2005 when I started following). The other teams (except Mesa) do broadcast the audio: linkage. Iowa has been doing home games for a while now, as well. It's just that MiLB.com now charges for them.
  3. Did anyone see what Walrond did yesterday for the IronPigs? 9 IP, 5 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 17 K, 115 pitches, 83 strikes, 1 HBP
  4. What's the report on Luis Bautista at Peoria? I know he's a bit older, but he's shown good patience so far in his young career and now he's hitting for some power. Can he stick at catcher?
  5. For those interested, the NFL Network is playing a one-hour version of the 2001 game against SF: Thursday, 7/17 @ 7 PM CDT Friday, 7/18 @ Noon CDT Friday, 7/18 @ 4 PM CDT
  6. Just rewatched the play and it sure looks like Kosuke fouled the ball off of his toes. It's possible it just took a very odd hop right in front of his foot, though.
  7. That's the kind of AB that can take a year off a young pitcher's life.
  8. Well, the AZL has no attendance, it's a more controlled environment. I don't know if crowds would affect him but if he's had mental issues with pitching, it might be better to throw in front of 5 people as opposed to 5,000. It's also 98 degrees. I think he should have one or two more outings down there, though, but perhaps not view them as traditional starts. He just needs to focus on repeating that delivery and not on arm strength. Even though he doesn't have much stamina at this point, a few innings in each appearance might be nice. After that, it just depends on which team is at home and has the best forecast.
  9. I'm going to include disclaimers in all my posts now. Doesn't matter. I'm too happy to care.
  10. That's his final line. Ryan Ocasta is in to pitch relief. \:D/ Not to be confused with Ryan Acosta. Did Yohan Gonzalez legally change his name to Rich Hill? I must have missed that.
  11. That's his final line. Ryan Acosta is in to pitch relief. \:D/
  12. Man, I was so ready to make that post. Instead, I'll just say I've got a huge smile on my face. Come on, Rich. We're pulling for you.
  13. You're looking at an arbitrary 2-month split while he's in the middle of a bad slump. You might as well go out to 3+ months, in which he's hitting .285/.391/.420. That's a good thing. Here's another equally arbitrary breakdown by streaks: First 29 games: .348/.443/.500 Next 20 games: .206/.329/.265 Next 27 games: .305/.422/.484 Last 7 games: .169/.219/.267 Before this slump, he had a season line of .298/.407/.436. There's nothing wrong with that. And it certainly hasn't been the steady decline from his great first month that you suggest it is.
  14. Generous outside corner and a bit lower, as well. Hopefully Lilly gets that.
  15. "Good" news, everyone. Buck and McCarver will be in New York to call the Yankees/Red Sox game. At least Buck won't be inconvenienced by having to sit through an entire game that doesn't involve those two teams. Kenny Albert and Eric Karros will be calling this one.
  16. I'm sure Fukudome would be heartbroken if he has to spend a few days alone with his wife and young kid instead of going to New York and talking to the media for two straight days.
  17. I've been the same way.
  18. Well, he hasn't given himself a chance to be hittable recently. And I'm sure at least some of his hits have come after he's let up to try and get pitches over the plate. But all I care about right now if his command. Let everything else come after. We'll see what happens with this, but let's hope this is the start. Since he's showing something, there's no reason to give him time off. More from the article:
  19. In the Yankees/Red Sox game today, Damon leaped near the wall, caught a fly ball, hit the wall in mid-air, and had the ball pop out of his glove. Oh, and the ball sat on top of the fence for a second or two before falling back into play: http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20080704&content_id=3063316&vkey=news_mlb&fext=.jsp&c_id=mlb
  20. Kosuke's strikeout rate his previous 6 games: .321 K/PA Kosuke's strikeout rate the month before that: .171 K/PA Kosuke's strikeout rate overall: .159 K/PA Nobody is denying that he hasn't had a rough last 6 games, but that's all it his. It's hardly worth talking about. Everyone goes through it numerous times every season. In the previous month before this short, bad stretch, he hit .315/.423/.500. And I've already showed that Kosuke does well when he works deep in the count. To make any sort of conclusion out of less than a week of struggling is not wise. The basic premise of it is also wrong in this case.
  21. Bah. Apparently missed the release of club box infield seats. Good field box infield seats are available, though. They released some more.
  22. Let's see if putting him in the bullpen meets the four criteria for determining whether or not a young starter should go to the bullpen: -Not pitching him save for a few middle inning relief appearances to minimize his value to the team [check] -Removing him from any semblance of normal rotation work to delay his development in order for him to "learn" a few big league hitters once or twice a week [check] -Putting a halt to his increasing value for a possible trade [check] -Giving a less productive veteran starter with no real future in this organization yet another chance to stay in the rotation despite providing nothing more than what the younger pitcher can already provide [check] Sorry, Mr. Gallagher. Although I will say that Marquis' last 9 starts combined have been slightly better than I would have expected, but he's not going to be much better than Gallagher, if at all. Certainly not enough to justify the decision. Of course, Marquis could be skipped and Lou may want to go with that 4-man rotation whenever he has an off day for some reason.
