    My problem with making too much about home field advantage being decided by the All Star game is that the All Star game has to be as big of a crapshoot as there is. Having the best talent doesn't mean a whole lot when pitchers aren't going 100% with their normal routines and position players don't play the entire game. I think it's a stupid idea and it probably should be determined by best over all record, but it's not any more or less arbitrary than simply alternating years. And even best overall record isn't a perfect solution.

    Consider what team's fan base he's talking about, and I'm quite certain someone will take it seriously. Anyone on the White Sox or in their organization, I mean. He'll certainly hear about it while in the bullpen.

    They were apparently using the see what sticks approach with adjusting Hill's mechanics recently. It probably won't be a bad thing to have him work with someone else for a little bit. Maybe the Orioles wouldn't mind if Alan Dunn was hired for some consulting work on the side...

    The odd part in keeping Fontenot over Patterson, assuming that is what eventually happens, is that Piniella apparently thought enough of Fontenot's defense to pull him in the 4th inning of a blowout after he already hit a HR that inning. Of course, Piniella did admit that he completely forgot about that HR, but how can he be that high on Fontenot when he won't even keep him in the game early in a blowout because of his defense?

    Eyre will get crap about it next weekend, but he was pretty clearly joking. I don't think anyone would take it seriously.

    His LD% has continued to drop over the last few weeks, as has his BABIP. His biggest issue right now, though, is his drop in walks, which I'm not really concerned about.

    They're going to skip Gallagher and have him pitch Friday, apparently. Dempster will pitch next Saturday.

    Yeah, we talked about that in the game thread. Every fastball was between 92 and 94 mph. WGN's radar gun isn't always accurate, Gordon.
