  1. Scoreboard error sounds good to me, even if it's not true.
  2. Looks like the Cubs are hungover from two days of 10+ runs.
  3. The camera shot wasn't that great, but it looked like he (Sori) came in and kind of just casually went to pick it up and bobbled it doing so, letting the runner get to second. Glad it didn't score.

  5. Soriano thinks he just needs to concentrate more? Duh.
  6. I don't know but I was waiting for someone to state that on a newscast, and haven't heard it yet, just the stat on winning eight straight homestands. I'm sure someone will post the answer soon.
  7. Dang. Wish I would have been home to see this thread earlier. Now there are only single seats available. I am going on the 18th with a friend, but I would love to take my son do a day game when he's not in school (he's 16) but we can never get any. Haven't be able to get him to one for 6 years.
  8. Pretty much anyone but Howry for me, thank you. I couldn't watch the game the other day, the first game against the Nationals. When I heard the bullpen gave up a ton, I figured Howry was in the mix somewhere..... wrong, but still, you have to figure he was when you don't know any better.
  9. Considering Lee's "off" season this year, I would expect that we'll see more of Hoff. Can't wait for Sept. 1!
  10. I know. It's just that in the offseason, I had a feeling the Cubs were going to be good this year, but my daydreaming of the upcoming season seemed to always include Hill as a big part of that. The fact that he didn't pan out this year is one thing, the fact that he bottomed out is another. Just a total reversal of what I had expected. As far as Demp... I think in my head it's almost like it's two separate guys. I was so down on him as a reliever after last year, I admit to making a lot of (negative) comments to friends about putting him in as a starter. I am happy to be wrong, however. Fukudome has been a bit of a disappointment, but he's new to the league, so I can say I am totally surprised. It seems worse at this point since he had come out of the gate like gangbusters. How can you not think DeRosa, Soto and Theriot haven't overperformed? Their numbers prove it. It's just nice to have a year when I can honestly say I could make a longer list of overperformers than underperformers.
  11. The only reason I put those two options up there is because both have been on the Cubs for a while, and while Harden is exciting to have in the starting rotation, he's new and a potential injury concern. Just for fun....
  12. Does Hill count? If so, you know what pile I put him in.
  13. I can see Harden, of course, but I was just trying to compare the two, and who people would pick between them. I was compltely frustrated with Dempster as a closer last year. I was not his biggest fan, by a long shot, so consider me (pleasantly) surprised at his year this year.... just as surprised as I am at how Hill has turned out in 08.
  14. At this moment in time (Aug. 23, 2008) and all other things being equal, if you had the choice to put Dempster OR Zambrano out in a "must win" game, who are you going with? I'd pick Dempster. His consistency and composure have been impressive, and right now I feel much more comfortable with him.
  15. Lee not producing = off year Theriot producing = lucky year **Not saying the latter is what I believe, but it is a general sentiment on threads here.**
  16. And, on a lighter note, if you've ever watched Cubs Read on Comcast, he blows Lilly and Lou away entertaining the kiddos (OK, Lou is pretty funny, too, but not sure the kids are getting it).
  17. Personally I don't care if it's luck, and I don't care at this point if he produces next year (that will change in 2009, however). He's been the most consistent everyday player on the team. He leads the league in singles, is in top ten for avg., is smart at the plate and gets on base. He's been a nice surprise this year, and it's been a LONG time since Cubs fans have had such a well-rounded shortstop to get behind. And, as is the case with Z, Soto, etc., reason to think 2008 isn't a fluke year.
  18. Theriot is awesome.... he's produced and has been a nice surprise.
  19. Yeah, those commercials are annoying. Then again, I cannot stand Hawk.
  20. Aren't a lot of Sept. games on the road, though? Hope we can keep up the improved road play. I have tickets to the Sept. 18 Brewers game, and I'd love for those games to be meaningless at that point.
  21. Soto is just that good, he gets to bat twice! No Theriot?
  22. Lee knows this, too. Even he said when asked about not making the All Star team... that he wasn't doing good enough.
  23. Yeah, in a season of pleasant surprises (Soto, Dempster, Johnson, etc.), Lee has not been where he should be for a while now. What would it hurt, maybe the break would do him good.
  24. Are blisters contagious? lol
  25. When he struck out Jones, I was almost fooled that he could get out of the inning. I was in the car so I didn't see it. But then the usual BS started. What more does Lou need to see with this guy?
