  1. I hope to God and all that's holy that they're just posturing and it's a ploy and they actually don't plan on resigning him. I know how this organization loves " experience and leadership" and feeds the fans this crap and ignores that the guy bats .220 and doesn't benefit a whole damn lot. Well see what happens, but if they seriously go into 2012 signing Pena again, especially to a multi-year deal.Ugh. Yes, Im worrying a little to much, but it's the Cubs. Its normal. They might see his glove driving in just as many runs as Neifi did.
  2. Just updated on Roto Carlos Pena was told by the Cubs' front office that he will be pulled back from waivers. Pena was claimed Wednesday by the Yankees, but the Cubs have no interest in dealing the 33-year-old slugger. In fact, they're hoping to re-sign him this offseason. He's batting .223/.341/.449 with 23 homers and 67 RBI.
  3. I don't get why they put this on a Sox blog on ESPN but here's their take on possible candidates http://espn.go.com/blog/chicago/white-sox/post/_/id/7038/possible-candidates-to-lead-the-cubs
  4. It's on WGN radio now At work so can't hear it. :(
  5. Can someone please give an overview of the Ricketts press conference that's coming up when it's done? Curious to what he has to say.
  6. I'm happier than a pig in [expletive] right now, but man, if they sent Crane Kenny along with him too..I don't even know what I'd do.
  7. Holy [expletive], I think I just had a coronary at work from the excitement after finding this out.
  8. I don't know if this has been discussed,I think it has been among us at some point on here, but now the organization is surveying fans and contemplating making the switch to urinals. Just caught this part on SI.com today, then the link on Deadspin. SI.com After visiting Wrigley Field in late June, I brought the very important issue of troughs to Hot Clicks Nation. Actually, I railed against the archaic way to do No. 1 while in the legendary ballpark. Well, clearly the organization reads Hot Clicks, because it's now asking Cubs fans if they should replace the troughs with urinals. http://deadspin.com/5829919/cubs-consider-getting-rid-of-wrigleys-most-iconic-feature
  9. Wow that Eagles secondary is going to be good, 3 pro bowl corners. Could be the NFC champions this year. They have the D and offense to do it.
  10. Jayson Stark tweets that the only hangup is determining minor perks for Fukudome in exchange for waiving his no-trade clause. http://twitter.com/#!/jaysonst/statuses/96585404052025344 9:35am: The prospects the Indians are sending are "one upper level, one lower level," tweets Paul Hoynes of the Cleveland Plain Dealer.
  11. Buster Olney of ESPN.com hears that the Cubs will get two prospects from the Indians in exchange for outfielder Kosuke Fukudome. The identities of the players aren't yet known, but since the Cubs are covering more than half of the $4.7 million left on Fukudome's contract, there's a good chance they'll get something of value in return. Olney expects a deal to get done "by gametime" on Thursday.
  12. Even though that was an out, Fielder is a freakin monster. Jesus
  13. So will you feel better if were paying Soriano to hit .255/.775 with 20some HR for the Orioles while we have Lou M0ntenez hitting .235/.650? Im just saying for what Soriano's doing and getting paid, we could have a player do the same for millions less. It feels were on lockdown in LF with him there, he's clearly regressing and we need some type of change. It opens the door to pull a trade or sign someone that can perhaps be beneficial to the team for the future.
  14. For Soriano, eat whatever you have to just to get rid of the burden of having him here 3 years and his lousy play at the plate and field. It would be such a breath of fresh air to have him gone and open up that space in the field and lineup to someone else.
  15. Roto According to ESPN Chicago's Bruce Levine, the Cubs are willing to absorb a large portion of the nearly $60 million owed to Alfonso Soriano in the "right trade." Soriano signed a massive eight-year, $136 million contract with the Cubs in November 2006 and has been a major disappointment since the end of 2008. But he may draw the interest of competing clubs if the price is knocked down a bit. Soriano has a full no-trade clause but told reporters last month that he would be willing to waive it.
  16. My first game and only game I'm probably going to this year. Free tickets and I'm sitting somewhere I believe in the 200 section 1st row, also a real good pitching matchup. So definitley a good game to go to.
  17. Cubs actually playing baseball today? To bad tomarrow they'll go back to their usual way of making every mistake possible and playing non-fundamental baseball
  18. Hahaha. Hilarious. Keep signing those washed up guys, Hendry. Dont worry about anything else out there or this pitiful joke of a team.
  19. PITTSBURGH -- A report from San Francisco Chronicle writer Henry Schulman said National League All-Star manager Bruce Bochy told ESPN he probably will name Aramis Ramirez as Placido Polanco's replacement in Tuesday's game. But the Cubs said Sunday that Ramirez has opted not to go. Ramirez said Saturday that he didn't care if he was chosen or not, and had plans to travel back home to the Dominican Republic. Twitter @pwsullivan Huge cockfighting tourney possibly?
  20. Taking Grabow and Soriano from us would be a blessing. Pleaseeeeeeeeeeee Yankees, take them.
  21. Nice to have a power pitcher who throws 97-99 every pitch in the pen. As long as he can locate his stuff. Nice recovery.
  22. Rodrigo Lopez..LOL..I hope they get smoked and embarrassed today with the hope that one of those clowns in the organization takes notice and some change are made real soon.
  23. Of course..Juan Pierre. What the [expletive]
