Roto The Red Sox and Cubs remain at stalemate on compensation negotiations for general manager Theo Epstein. An announcement, reportedly, wouldn't come until Friday at the earliest, but only then with the permission of baseball commissioner Bud Selig. Epstein will apparently be able to bring one prominent member of Boston's front office to Chicago. That could be Jonathan Gilula, who is the executive vice president of business affairs. Trainer Mike Reinold might also move with Epstein, according to ESPN Boston's report. Epstein might only take the role of president of the Cubs and hire a general manager. If so, three former aides now in San Diego would be in consideration: GM Jed Hoyer, VP/baseball operations Josh Byrnes, and VP/assistant GM, player development and scouting Jason McLeod. Byrnes was the general manager of the Diamondbacks for more than four seasons.
