  1. Haha my one buddy from STL is a little pissed Facebook status: Albert Pujols is money hungry NO class piece of garbage adios!!!
  2. According to USA Today's Bob Nightengale, the Angels have made a 10-year offer to free agent first baseman Albert Pujols worth more than $210 million. Nightengale says that there's also a third "mystery team" still hanging around the negotiations. The Angels are courting free agent left-hander C.J. Wilson heavily and might not have the funds for both an elite pitcher and an elite batter, but it's quite clear that their bid is being taken seriously by Pujols' camp. It's looking like a resolution isn't close.
  3. Ok fine. Half naked and pints of Gumball Head for everyone on NSBB.
  4. The Cubs seem like the dark horse in all this that's being written in the past couple days that they're just " lurking in the backround", especially with Pujols sweepstakes. If they could pull off something by surprise and come away with 1 of the 2, I would friggin run naked down Michigan Ave.
  5. MLB Network's Jon Heyman reports that the Marlins are pursuing Prince Fielder. Nothing official yet, but there is increased chatter that Albert Pujols is likely to stay with the Cardinals. Marlins' president David Samson said Wednesday that they always planned a "three-part move" for their offseason, so if they can't land Pujols, look for them to move aggressively on the remaining big-ticket free agents. Mark Buehrle and C.J. Wilson are also possibilities.
  6. And what will be annoying if the Marlins lose out on him is that they're going to throw all that money at Fielder now killing our chances of signing him.
  7. Roto Tim Brown of Yahoo.com reports that the Cubs "still prefer" Prince Fielder to Albert Pujols. That's seemed to be the indication, even though Joel Sherman of the New York Post recently reported that the Cubs were "definitely in" on Pujols. The Northsiders don't seem particularly liking to sign either player, but they're keeping their finger on the pulse of both situations.
  8. Roto says take it with a grain of salt Jim Duquette of MLB Network Radio on Sirius XM Radio reports that the Mariners are not in on free agent first baseman Prince Fielder. We would take this with a big grain of salt. The Mariners have been reported as the favorites for the first baseman, so it would be a surprise if they're suddenly not involved on him at all. The Cubs and the Blue Jays have seemed to be the other two big players for Fielder, and we're not ruling out the Rangers yet.
  9. Theo is on. You can tell he knocked back a few cold ones.
  10. Pretty much what we already knew. Jim Bowden: I talked to Jed Hoyer this week. Obviously, their #1 priority is to build scouting and Player development. In term of major league club...he told me....better defense, more LHH in lineup and starting pitching depth.....they might make a splash for a Fielder/Pujols type player if they can get smaller length than market but higher aav
  11. Isn't a press conference for DeJesus going on right now?
  12. .299 career hitter with RISP is a nice little thing about him.
  13. Roto likes it He'll make $4.25 million each of the next two years while the $6.5 million option includes a $1.5 million buyout. While DeJesus figures to serve as the starting right fielder next season, the Cubs could have more flexibility if they find a taker for Alfonso Soriano. The 31-year-old is coming off a down season, but has a .284/.356/.421 career batting line and is regarded as a skilled and versatile defender. The lefty-hitter should benefit from a fantasy perspective by leaving O.co Coliseum behind. It's a nice buy-low signing by the Cubs' new front office.
  14. Just popped up on Roto ESPN's Jayson Stark reports that the Cubs have "made contact" with Albert Pujols' agent, Dan Lozano. http://espn.go.com/chicago/mlb/story/_/id/7294424/source-chicago-cubs-call-albert-pujols-reps-express-interest
  15. Busting out the Cubs jersey for Dale to put on
  16. Let's just get this done. I'm more than ready for moves that involve players on the field in 2012.
  17. According to Phil Rogers of the Chicago Tribune, the Cubs are "finishing details" to make Brewers hitting coach Dale Sveum their next manager. Source: Cubs finishing details w/Sveum but won't reach deal before tonight. Friday news conference expected.
  18. It appears Cubs have decided on Sveum. You approve? Approve (2588 responses) 54% Disapprove (2217 responses) 46% 4805 total responses
  19. As long as he doesn't have Koyie Hill pinch it ( God forbid he's still on this team in 2012), and knows how to take a gassed pitcher out of the game at the appropriate time and make sound and rational decisions with the bullpen and other general things. We should be fine. Also, if he's not big on slappy, grittiness. even better.
  20. I really don't know much about him and his Boston ties and previous employment. So Theo obviously had had past experience with him.. Sveum was the third base coach for the Boston Red Sox from 2004–05, working under manager (and former Brewers teammate) Terry Francona, and was part of the 2004 World Series championship team. In Boston, he was known for being aggressive with sending runners, though this often led to runners being thrown out at home plate. He left the Red Sox to rejoin the Brewers as the team's bench coach

  22. Think they'll go to Demarlo Hale now?
