  1. All lot of the Boston fans saying they don't want anything, they just want us to take Lackey.
  2. Boston article feeding the fans that they could possibly land McNutt,Jackson,Sczur, or Vitters..And they also appearantly like Jeff Baker http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/extras/extra_bases/2011/10/compensation_ta_1.html
  3. I just want this to be finalized already so Theo can get to work and fire Quade right away and get a new manager and start making some moves and cleaning up. The press conference is going to be one of the most amazing pieces in television history.
  4. It's all going down today. According to John Dennis of WEEI in Boston, the Red Sox and Cubs will start talks regarding compensation for Theo Epstein on Thursday.
  5. Day 2 of "Theo Fest" 2011..Keep the celebration going! According to John Dennis of WEEI in Boston, the Red Sox and Cubs will start talks regarding compensation for Theo Epstein on Thursday. Previous reports have indicated that talks were already underway, but that's apparently not the case. Regardless, the Red Sox are expected to receive either a minor leaguer (though not a top prospect) or cash in return. Epstein has reportedly agreed to a five-year contract worth between $15-20 million to join the Cubs' front office.
  6. I'm trying to figure out why getting rid of a LFer is necessary to free up a spot for a CFer? I don't know what the plan is, but if they wanna bring him up quickly and keep Byrd, Byrd can slide over to LF and put him in CF.The main thing is just getting rid of Sorianos contract and him and we can browse a lot of other options which Im sure would be a lot more productive and beneficial than what Soriano brings. Plus with his age, he's just going to keep getting worse.
  7. I hope Theo is not a fan of Soriano whatsoever and does everything he can to open LF up and just get rid of that contract. We can get the same production as him elsewhere for a lot less money. Plus, it frees up a spot for Brett Jackson also. Byrd needs to go also.
  8. If he goes out after and signs Fielder or Pujols...Omg...
  9. Good thing I stocked up on Three Floyds Gumballhead, Im gonna be drinking up for " Theo Day"
  10. I never comment really on sport writers, I just read the article for information and think nothing of it, but my God, Rosenbloom is the biggest, negative douche Iv'e ever seen. He whines and complains about every little thing and thinks he's clever and funny. Right away he pisses on Theo coming here with this article. How in the hell does this guy have and keep a job? It's just pure trash he spews out in his garbage that he writes. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/rosenblog/chi-theo-epstein-is-right-for-wrong-reasons-20111012,0,7931901.column
  11. It's on Chicagocubs.com now, they have it as not the compensation part, but Theo is still contemplating on coming here Epstein could make his decision as early as Wednesday, but it could be longer. Boston Herald columnist Steve Buckley reported earlier on Tuesday night that Epstein is "on the cusp" of leaving the Red Sox to accept a position with the Cubs that holds powers greater than what he has in Boston. Epstein has one year left on his contract, which means the Red Sox would be well within their rights to seek compensation from the Cubs should he accept the position. A baseball source told MLB.com that compensation will be discussed by the two sides only if Epstein decides for sure he wants to go to Chicago. http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20111011&content_id=25609938&vkey=news_chc&c_id=chc
  12. I hope they announce it early tomorrow since I'm off work, so I can go on a happy drunk rampage all day.

  14. So apparently Cashner was throwing 100 MPH today...Boston better not be asking about him!
  15. This basically has an overview of what happened and Epstein coming here to hear Ricketts sales pitch http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/whitesox/ct-spt-1012-gm-cubs-chicago--20111012,0,7995150.story Epstein still could pull out, the source said, though he appears sold on Ricketts' pitch.
  16. ROTO Red Sox President and CEO Larry Lucchino had no comment on general manager Theo Epstein's potential move to the Cubs. "We are not commenting on that type of issue unless and until there is a resolution. That has been a consistent policy and practice of the Red Sox for years," Lucchino said. Epstein led the Sox to a pair of World Series titles in nine years on the job. Reportedly the clubs are working out compensation regarding what Boston would receive to release Epstein from his contract. "Before this is truly resolved, I think Theo will change his mind a few times," said one of his Red Sox employees. Related: Red Sox
  17. I can't imagine the animosity if he come's out after all this and says " Ive decided to stay in Boston because that's where my family is and my heart and roots are" or something of the sort. Just thinking about it now makes sick after all this thinking he's basically a lock to be GM now.
  18. Woah buddy Roto just posted this If Red Sox general manager Theo Epstein leaves for the Cubs, Ryne Sandberg will become the favorite to be named manager, according to Gordon Edes of ESPN Boston. Epstein tried to hire Sandberg to manage Triple-A Pawtucket last winter. The move would obviously be popular in Chicago, where Sandberg is beloved. Sandberg managed Philadelphia's Triple-A squad this past season. He was named the Pacific Coast League's Manager of the Year in 2010 as skipper of Chicago's Triple-A affiliate.
  19. Well that's a good sign when a Red Sox official with direct contact and knowledge of everything says "It's likely he's going to go but nothing has been finalized''
  20. Major league sources said tonight that no deal is in place for Theo Epstein to join the Chicago Cubs in an upper management capacity. But a resolution is expected in the coming days. Epstein is weighing the decision and is not necessarily a lock to leave the Red Sox after nine seasons. But his interest in the Cubs has progressed to a point where the expectation is that he will leave. Beyond compensation from the Cubs, the various sides would have to negotiate what Red Sox staff members Epstein could bring with him to Chicago. That is more of an issue for the Red Sox than compensation. If Epstein leaves, the Red Sox have given every indication that senior vice president and assistant general manager Ben Cherington would replace him. A 36-year-old New Hampshire native and Amherst graduate, Cherington has been with the Red Sox since 1999. The Red Sox have put their search for a new manager on hold while waiting Epstein to make his decision. Owner John Henry seems willing to let Epstein stay on as GM but also is not standing in his way as he pursues the Cubs position. The Herald reported tonight that Epstein is on the cusp of leaving for the Cubs. But along with the Globe, ESPN and Comcast Sports New England are reporting that is not quite the case yet. http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/extras/extra_bases/2011/10/epstein_not_out.html
  21. @PeteAbe Pete Abraham New blog post: Epstein not out the door yet - Major league sources said tonight that no deal is in place for Theo ... ow.ly/1f5SQh What the?
  22. PeteAbe Pete Abraham by CarrieMuskat Also, a team source stressed that Epstein still could remain in Boston and has not definitely decided to go. 9 minutes ago
  23. CarrieMuskat Carrie Muskat Sources say #Cubs made offer & sticking point is whether Theo wants to leave #RedSox. Tough call, personal vs professional
  24. Rotos latest ESPN.com's Buster Olney reports that Red Sox general manager Theo Epstein would be restricted from taking Boston employees to Chicago with him, via a trade agreement between the clubs. The only exception would be defections that the Red Sox agree to. Sean McAdam of Comcast Sports Net reported around the same time that the Cubs are seeking help from major league baseball on "compensation protocol," but that it is an issue that Boston and Chicago will work out amongst themselves. Epstein, 38, won two World Series titles in Boston and made the playoffs in six of his nine seasons.
  25. A source with knowledge of the talks told ESPN's Karl Ravech that the compensation would involve prospects and/or cash, but no major league players would be part of the deal, following traditional precedent.
