  1. We better get Peavy ..I don't like our middle infield at all now
  2. This is the best day off the off-season so far.. Getting rid of Marquis,Bradley deal nearly done, and Peavy talks revisited again..Lets just hope atleast 2 out of the 3 get done ,but all 3 would be amazing..
  3. Some guy just said this on MLBTR..Can anyone confirm this is true? ate to do this to you Rays fan.. But Bruce Levine had a 6:00 interview on ESPN 1000 that said the following: "Here's what Levine said: -Cubs deal with Rockies will happen in next 3-4 days -Cubs will save 5.5 mil or so -Peavy deal IS BACK ON -2 or 3 teams are talking to Cubs about DeRosa -Could use the money from that to sign milton bradley, which he said is a DONE DEAL and will happen next week -Next 3-5 days could be the move of DeRosa -Prospect from that could be added to a deal for Peavy -Vizcaino may NOT stay with the Cubs: He could be moved again -Derosa WILL leave -Hendry is moving money around so we can make these deals happen -BRADLEY DEAL IS DONE."
  4. I like this move..Guzman,Marshall,Gaudin,or Shark could all put up the same or better numbers for a fraction of Marquis' salary..Then just stick one of them in Marshall's spot..Frees up money for the RF spot and another pitcher if we want..I never liked Marquis at all.So I'm glad he's outta here.
  5. Possible Angel Guzman comes up and takes over Marshall's spot? Read he was throwing 95-97 MPH in the venezualan league
  6. He had to sign a new horse since he lost his other one.Im sure Dusty will say how Willy will save them and be what the team needs.
  7. He talked about Dunn, but was tryin to get across that they like him, but he's not the right fit or what theyre looking for in a lefty at this time
  8. Towers Interview http://www.gaslampball.com/2008/12/11/690338/kevin-towers-is-spent-afte
  9. I want to see somthing happen already..Whats goin on here? Sign Bradley or get rid of Marquis..We need something new to talk about after that whole disappointing Peavy ordeal.
  10. Screw you Towers, I hope your ass gets canned.
  11. Agent Barry Meister said Thursday that Randy Johnson is "really interested" in playing for the Giants. "We made a check list of everything that's important, and San Francisco checks off on every box," Meister said. "They're in the National League. They'll be competitive. They train in Arizona. San Francisco has a lot of appeal."
  12. Roto The Mets and Cubs are reportedly talking about a Jason Marquis deal. There was talk about Aaron Heilman for Marquis as recently as yesterday, but it's believed the Mets turned down that deal weeks ago. Scott Schoeneweis for Marquis would make a lot more sense. Both are entering their contract years. Schoeneweis is owed $3.6 million, while Marquis is due $9.875 million.
  13. Please sign Bradley or Furcal to make this day better.
  14. Pirates selected LHP Donnie Veal from the Cubs with the fourth pick in the Rule 5 draft. Veal, one of the biggest names available in the draft, is coming off a season in which he went 5-10 with a 4.52 ERA and a 123/81 K/BB ratio in 145 1/3 innings in Double-A. He then walked 13 in 9 1/3 innings in the AFL. The 24-year-old has a very good arm for a left-hander, but he's made very little progress the last couple of years. He'd likely have to be used in a mop-up role if kept in the majors.
  15. Padres selected shortstop Everth Cabrera from the Rockies with the third pick in the Rule 5 draft. Corey Wimberley was the Rockies infielder most thought might be chosen, but he stayed put. Cabrera swiped 73 bases last season, but he did it in low-A ball. He hit .284/.361/.399 in a very friendly environment for hitters at Asheville. Cabrera strikes out way too much for someone with little power, and he's years away from being capable of handling major league pitching. There's not enough upside here to justify a roster spot.
  16. It's damn frustrating when you have a chance to trade for one of the best pitchers in all of baseball for half the money Sabathia is getting and can't get it done..When they were close last year and had the team to do it and this move that could probably put them over the top and can't get anything done because of $$$..This team is always will be and has been about money thats why it's been losing for so long..I don't get what a couple million dollars in all this matters. A couple mil is nothing in baseball. I know nothing is official yet, but it isn't looking too good.
  17. Do you guys think that it's mind games and " leverage " happening or it's just Hendry worried about giving up Marshall or whoever and doesnt want to pull the trigger on this?
  18. I know thats what I meant, sorry. Just goin by this.. The Cubs have made trade inquiries about Chone Figgins, according to the Los Angeles Times Dont know what we would have to offer after the Peavy deal
  19. Dream Scenario: Cubs land Peavy,With DeRosa gone sign Figgins with his versability and can bat leadoff, then sign Bradley.. Figgins Lee ARam Bradley Soriano Soto Johnson/Fukudome Theriot Peavy Z Harden Dempster Lilly
  20. This is on the front page of Chicagosports.com..?? Is all he has to do is say Yes and this gets done?? This is all so confusing.. Jim Hendry declined to comment that Mark DeRosa was headed to Philadelphia for pitching prospects that would be sent to San Diego to complete a potential Peavy deal, but Phillies sources insisted a deal was in place and ready to go if the Cubs pull the trigger.
  21. ESPN's Buster Olney said the Yankees checked back in on Jake Peavy, but that talks went nowhere. Agent Barry Axelrod said last month than a CC Sabathia addition might make the Yankees a more attractive destination for Peavy. However, it appears as though Peavy is still only willing to consider a select number of NL teams. Source: ESPN.com
  22. Fukudome did save us alot in RF last year.So defense there is important. There was a lot of shallow bloopers he got a hold of and would be gappers he chased down.Bradley would be the best bet there over ageing Abreu,Ibanez and we know how Dunn is even though I don't see them going after him.
  23. If you had to pick from the three, which one do you take? Ibanez,Bradley,or Abreu? I'd take Abreu's glove over the the two, but Bradley you can get for millions cheaper but the durability factor comes in..All of them have their faults and benefits..Abreu used to smash the ball at Wrigley with the Phils Carlos Lee style..If we get Peavy,I'm leaning toward Bradley but as long as we get one of the three to fill that spot after Ramirez I'll be happy.
