  1. Roto Orioles acquired LHP Rich Hill from the Cubs in exchange for a player to be named later. Like Felix Pie and Ronny Cedeno before him, Hill was traded at a discount by the Cubs because he was out of minor league options. The quality of player to be named later will likely depend upon how well Hill fares in Baltimore after struggling with his control last season. If the Orioles can get him back to throwing strikes, Hill can be a solid No. 3 starter and nice sleeper target in AL-only leagues.
  2. Yup its official The Chicago Cubs today traded left-handed pitcher Rich Hill to the Baltimore Orioles for a player to be named. Hill, who turns 29 on March 11, went 18-17 with a 4.37 ERA (164 ER/337.2 IP) in 64 appearances (57 starts) in all or part of four seasons with the Cubs (2005-08). The southpaw went 11-8 with a 3.92 ERA (85 ER/195.0 IP) in a career-high 32 starts in 2007 but went 1-0 with a 4.12 ERA (9 ER/19.2 IP) in five starts with the Cubs last season before being optioned to Triple-A Iowa on May 3.
  3. Roto The Baltimore Sun reports that the Orioles are on the verge of acquiring Rich Hill from the Cubs and may announce a deal as soon as Monday. According to the newspaper, the Cubs' return for Hill will depend upon how he performs with the Orioles, making it likely that the deal will include a player to be named later.
  4. lol..We trade for all these prospects and we can even get one in a top 15 list of a organizations prospects.
  5. Roto Says Hill was nearly untouchable a year ago. Now the Orioles could potentially land him without parting with any of their top 10 prospects. It'd be a great gamble for the club. That Hill is out of options would make it tough for a contender to take him on, but it's bizarre that more non-contenders haven't entered the mix for him. San Diego, especially, would make perfect sense.
  6. I remember when we could've got talent for Pie and Hill and everyone wanted them..But Hendry said they were untouchable..Now we practically have to beg someone to take them for minor league nobodys..Ooops, Sorry, I just went back a page and seen you guys already posted it.. Jeff Zrebiec of the Baltimore Sun reports that the Orioles are looking to acquire Cubs lefty Rich Hill. Hill is out of options, limiting his value. Zrebiec notes that Hill could benefit from a reunion with Rick Kranitz, his former Triple A pitching coach. An industry source told Zrebiec that it's a "strong possibility" that Hill will end up with the Orioles. Apparently the Cubs would receive a player to be named later in return, the value of whom would hinge on Hill's success in Baltimore. The Mariners have also shown interest, but the O's are believed to be in the lead at this point. Hill, 28, walked 18 in 19.2 innings last year before his demotion to the minors. He had a nice run for the Cubs in 2006-07.
  7. I don't get how some players don't get the chance to prove themselves, every little thing they do gets magnified, gets thrown under the bus, or in Lou's doghouse or gets talked about getting traded basically on the roster except Ryan Theriot..The guy can go in a 0-78 slump and you never hear one negative thing about him from the Cubs organization or from the media even when the guy throws balls into right field and makes some idiotic throws and steals and thinks he's Ozzie Smith...I would take Pie's glove, speed and his Ehhh offense that has the potential to break out anytime over Theriots crappy D and his bat anyday. I know theyre different positions but I just think the whole Cubs staff and Organization treat this guy like he's Jeter. I would rather have Cedeno or anyone out there daily at SS over him. He's nothing more than a backup 2nd baseman..Our middle infield sucks and I don't get why they don't ever mention messing with the SS position or tossing him in a trade, I'm sure Hendry could talk his godson up and get something for him in a package and and throw in any SS to do what he's doin if not better. I'm just venting from a crappy offseason and how every player get's negativity from the coaches and media, traded, or not givin a chance but this guy since he's untouchable it seems. If your a white, gritty ,mediocre infielder, I guess your a icon in the Cubs Organization.
  8. About Heilman from the Sun-Times ''He's somebody we've had on our radar for a while,'' Bush said. ''We really like his versatility.'' Awesome knowing they seek and love mediocre pitching. Why go for Peavy and trading your chips when you finally land your mediocre pitcher that you desire. This offseason sucks.
  9. Minor league deal..And Hendry was going to sign him to back up all the infield positions.. http://www.fannation.com/si_blogs/hot_stove/posts/45601-juan-uribe-signs-minor-league-deal-with-giants
  10. Bruce's Blog if you haven't seen it yet http://blogs.dailyherald.com/node/1316
  11. And the next signings will be Bako and Juan Uribe...Is all this seriously happening?
  12. Cubs.com release..They're trying to talk him up for the non-knowledgeable Cub fans like it's a great trade.. http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20090128&content_id=3778476&vkey=news_chc&fext=.jsp&c_id=chc
  13. Awesome. Now this sets up the Paul Bako signing then we can finally get Braden Looper or Wolf. Yippy
  14. Roto's view on it ESPN.com reports that Garrett Olson is the third player in the Aaron Heilman-Ronny Cedeno deal between the Cubs and Mariners. OK, now it's looking up a bit for Seattle. Olson is a more valuable property than Cedeno, even if he shouldn't fit on the major league team immediately. The Mariners have better options for their rotation right now and can send Olsen down to get some additional Triple-A time.
  15. It pisses me off and you just keep wondering why..Why does Hendry "covet" mediocre pitchers and infielders? How in the hell are you going to win a championship doing that?
  16. Cubs general manager Jim Hendry, who was returning from a trip to Italy on Wednesday, couldn't be reached for comment. But one baseball person said Hendry has been an admirer of Heilman's "since he pitched at Notre Dame.'' He must really have a fetish for the guy if he goes out of the way on his vacation to Italy to aquire him and give up what he did.
  17. LOL..The trade was just for this?? :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: Levine says the Cubs will sign backup catcher Paul Bako to a one-year, $750K deal once they clear a spot on the 40-man roster. The 2-for-1 Heilman trade takes care of that.
  18. Bruce Levine is reporting its a done deal..Olsen and Cedeno for Heilman..What in the hell is wrong with Hendry this offseason?
  19. Im on a Cubs blog and seen this About 5 days ago, the Chicago Tribune sold the Chicago Cubs, Wrigley Field, and 25% of a cable network to the Rickett Family worth about 900 million. The Rickett Family wrote a blog that he (Thomas Rickett) will take on the contract of Jake Peavy (63 million over 4 years). Does anyone know the Ricketts family blog site? We have the green light, so lets get wheelin and dealin, Jimbo.
  20. If he moves then goes to the middle of the lineup, thats a pretty lethal 4 guys in a row of Lee,A-Ram,Bradley,and Soriano..If Lee can bounce back and Soriano can hit with guys on base in front of him that looks like it would put a lot of runs on the board..Cant forget we have Soto right back there also..
  21. Good luck, Hank. http://www.desipio.com/images/mlb2k7covers/hank-mlb2k7.jpg
  22. http://chicagocubsonline.com/archives/2009/01/cubsrumors12009.php
  23. Does this mean a move for Peavy since we have Olsen, who the Pads wanted and those guys from the DeRosa trade?
  24. I think this is from Valkyrie, not sure..Friggin hilarious is you haven't seen it..Wouldve been great if the end went further..Warning: Vulgar Language http://hirejimessian.com/2008/12/07/winter-meetings-preview/
  25. Im guessing theres not, but is there any live feed on here to see anything going on at the convention like Bradley being produced tonight or basically just wait for the highlights on CSN?
