  1. My only guess is Dusty looks at numbers and doesn't recognize sample size. Barrett 1-7 against Kim coming into taday's game. Mabry 1-1 against Kim coming into today's game.
  2. Len and Bob are so intrigued by the Rockies' stadium announcer.
  3. Byun Yun Kim is not very intimidating, but it would have been very interesting if there was a brewhaha since he is a black belt.
  4. Darn Cubs' fans. Bringing the wave wherever they go now.
  5. Nope. It's scents. Example: As we walked by the perfume counter, we smelled various scents.
  6. Fans doing the wave at Coors. Must be all those Cubs' fans.
  7. Cubs have come to town to disprove the humidor theory.
  8. I bet they lead both leagues in sac bunts with RISP and two outs in the ninth. I know we have at least one attempt, courtesy of Neifi. That was genius. They weren't expecting it nor were the Cubs(other than Neifi), the fans and anyone that knows anything about baseball for that matter.
  9. Wow! Todd Hollandsworth of the Reds just made a great catch in RF to prevent a loss to the Phillies in the 13th inning. On to the 14th they go tied 5-5.
  10. Well, the Cubs and Bears have a lot in common.......offensive futility.
  11. Isn't one of the rockies' announcers former Cub, George Frazier? "I want Frazier!" I always thought Frazier was a decent reliever. I have no idea if that's the same guy though. Yep, same guy. Just scroll down a bit.
  12. And that is with Mateo being scratched from Saturday's game.
  13. Isn't one of the rockies' announcers former Cub, George Frazier?
  14. Boy, wouldn't it be a kick in the teeth if the Cubs gave Pierre a Furcal-like contract? I wouldn't put it past Hendry to throw that type of money in Pierre's direction. I think the whole impetus behind Hendry's desire to re-sign Pierre is to justify the trade in the first place. I get the feeling that Hendry will do anything to "prove" that the Pierre acquisition was a good one, even if it means compounding the original mistake by making an even bigger mistake. Beyond re signing him to justify the trade, I really think that Hendry likes Pierre and believes that he is a great leadoff hitter. Plus, I would also think that Hendry fawns all over Juan Pierre's work ethic. My gut says that Hendry will give Pierre a lucrative three year contract.
  15. Well, what about these numbers, Dusty? Is there merit in these numbers? .289/.372/.556 21 HRs 42BB/98SO in 342 Triple A at bats Those would be the numbers of Michael Restovich who is not even on the 40 man roster anymore. Seems like he could platoon with Jacque in RF while the Murton/Pagan platoon could be kept in LF. Oh and I guess it is possible to not start Pierre occasionally moving Pagan to CF for a game here and there for the remainder of the season.
  16. The wave is running rampant in Chicago. Yesterday, at the Bears practice/workout at Soldier Field the entire crowd starting doing the wave. I have never seen the wave done at a Bear's game or even one of the Soldier Field practices. First at Wrigley Field now at Soldier Field.
  17. Now the Cubs really need to make a deal for Freel (and Farny). It's like getting two for the price of one.
  18. Over Pie? I'd like to see Walker get a promotion. Fuld is on the DL; my understanding is that he's been battling some ongoing back problems (disc problems?) that have affected his play recently, even before going on the DL. Since I rarely see Sam Fuld discussed, here's my opportumity to slip in the fact that Sam is in a documnetary that is about the Cape Cod Baseball League. The documentary is called "Touching the Game". I rented it from Neflix a couple of months ago and also noticed that Matt Murton is briefly in it. Here's the trailer if you haven't seen it before.
  19. Please, don't hate Neifi. He is a good bench player. Emphasis on bench player. Hate those who express their man-love for Neifi by playing him over more logical choices. No he is not a good bench player. A good bench player brings something to the table offensively. Neifi brings nothing. He's a barely passable bench player. There's a million guys out there who can field but not hit worth a crap. At 2.5 million a year.
  20. Why Blanco? He's a backup catcher. A good defensive one at that. What were you looking for? What is wrong with giving someone like Restovich a shot? The Cubs have never really given him that shot, but he was a cheap pick up and worthy of a look, imo. there is nothing wrong with any of them but when they are constantly the biggest moves made and we pay many an unslightly amount of money it is poor...and whether you like the guy or not when you cruise the scrap heap signing guys that is dumpster diving... just a quick example while we were dumpster diving for neifi, and womack..and paying an absurd amount for nefster, the sox scooped a rather useful alex cintron for next to nothing.. many teams seem to like to fill these spots with young players..perhaps theriot could have played more of nefster and womack's innings at a fraction of the cost... we gave away corey patterson...so that we could grab bynum? why? if corey's done then let him be a bench player...obviously he wasn't done which adds to the frustration. it would have been one thing if we traded for some value but we got a class A player... Ok, so the Sox got Cintron as a bench player. I agree that is a good move. But, look at another bench player.....back up catcher. The Sox had Widger and now have Sandy Alomar Jr. Imo, the Cubs have the better bench player back up catcher wise. The Sox are in the playoff hunt and thy're concerned with replacing Widger with Alomar....now that is essentially dumpster diving. Note: I'm not defending the signing of any of the guys you mentioned , but Blanco and Restovich as back up/minor leaguers.

  22. Just what the Royals need. How did Jay Bruce look for Dayton?
