  1. Any new info on this front?
  2. I'll be at a few of those Colorado games, I hope the power is back by then as well.
  3. Hopefully if it is Cedeno up, Riot will be the backup. Hopefully Cedeno can produce, I heard he's starting to cool off. You might be right, he has only one XBH in his last ten games, and it was a double. He's in a power funk, so this might be a bad time to call him up and hope that it's what he provides. His overall numbers are still pretty good, but his slg seems to be trending downward. I'd still bring him up and see what he can do. Hopefully the power outage is only temporary.
  4. I'm not sure I've seen this anywhere but I think the Cubs should hit for more power.
  5. Argh. This team better remember how to score runs or we're in big trouble. Another solid outing by our starter is being wasted. Against the Diamondbacks.
  6. It'd be hard to see the monetary motivation as far as rigging baseball is concerned, as from what I understand, betting on baseball isn't incredibly lucrative. I could be wrong though. I wouldn't doubt the possibility, there's a bad apple in every bunch, but in general I assume incompetence long before I assume rigging.
  7. according to Gameday, Turnbow is looking pretty erratic.
  8. Visual/Audio: WGN Audio: WGN 720 Saturday's heroic contest features the 24 year-old righty from Gainesville, GA: http://www.nbcsports.com/2007/0407/1326213_291X300.jpg Micah Burton Owings, owner of: 86 IP/4.92 ERA/1.477 WHIP versus the 27 year-old lefty hailing from Boston, MA: http://www.minorleaguebaseball.com/images/2005/07/25/uxyHeSmS.jpg Richard Joseph Hill, sole proprietor of: 112 IP/3.70 ERA/1.116 WHIP This historic match-up features the Chicago Cubs facing off for the second game of a three-game set against the one and only Arizona Diamondbacks of Phoenix. While the Diamondbacks (50-48) appear to be tumbling down to Earth following an unexpected first-half, the Chicago Cubs (51-44) are dutifully chasing down the Milwaukee Brewers (54-42) for the National League Central title. What once was a 8.5 game disparity between the two clubs on June 23rd has become an ever-shrinking gap of 2.5 games (and just two losses), following Milwaukee's loss against the Giants Friday night. Athletic contests don't get much more exciting than this folks.
  9. Absolutely, I could care less about steroids. Just keep them out from now on and it doesn't really bother me.

While the Diamondbacks (50-47) find themselves in third place in the National League West outperforming their Pythagorean record (45-51) despite losing four of the last five and eleven out of the last fifteen, the Chicago Cubs (50-44) find themselves in the hunt for first place in the National League Central. Athletic contests don't get much more exciting than this folks.

While the Giants, last in the National League West, are toiling towards the top pick in the 2008 amateur draft, the Chicago Cubs find themselves in the hunt for first place in the National League Central. Athletic contests don't get much more exciting than this folks.
  12. This is one of the coolest threads ever. What I found particularly interesting was the White Sox-fan-esque 'I can't stand cubs fans' type rhetoric. Other than that, the Brewers message board was cool in it's low-budget 'we're under-appreciated' kind of way. Also, the part where the one guy says that this board isn't moderated as 'good' as theirs because people make 'bandwagon'/worthless posts. To whoever that person was, I think you are confusing 'moderation' with 'censorship'. That, and there's more than six people posting here so it's somewhat difficult to micromanage everything that happens on the board. Quality bunch over there though.
  13. Carpenter should take Garland's advice and just tough it out like a real man.
  14. If Cuban can get in on the current front-runner's bid, I forget his name and am too lazy to look, that would be the powerhouse. Articles have referenced Bud's ability to pair ownership suitors in order to create the best case scenario, and I can't imagine Selig would turn down the publicity Cuban would draw if he could be contained by a partner... somewhat. That's what I'm going with for now. I would love Cuban, but I just don't see it happening unless it's paired with someone more... boring.
  15. No way this happens. Edit: but it would be nice if it did.
  16. Papelbon should exercise his thinking muscle more.
  17. Ahh yes, slice. That explains it.
  18. Somebody entered some data improperly for the graphical representation. If you look at the horizontal angles, only one of the HR's was under/to the right of the 50 degree mark, yet the graph has three displayed under/to the right of that mark.
  19. Quite a bit? I think you're using semantics to your disadvantage. 350 AB's is just over a half a season of starting pretty much everyday. That is not 'regular' playing time. 500 AB's would be.
  20. doh! You think the old man would be somewhat relaxed after getting it on this weekend. But no.
  21. 'till I'm blue in the face, actually.
  22. Murt isn't ready yet. I'd rather have Cedeno.
