  1. Ugh, I hate listening to the Cards radio broadcast when the WGN affiliate isn't coming in well.
  2. I thought you were going to peoria with the rest of them, Omar
  3. Numbers schmumbers. It's the Hall of FAME guys, and Biggio is obviously famous enough to qualify.
  4. There's only a couple of deals I could see Hendry sending Pie packing, and Tex to the Cubs is not one of those. I think our most likely options are Nady, Lofton, and Stairs, with Dunn/Griffey being longshots.
  5. Not meant as a personal attack on anyone here but, if you think Dunn's defense somehow comes close to outweighing his plate performance, well.. you're taking crazy pills. He could field facing the bleachers for all I care. I'd be ecstatic if Dunn came to the Cubs, but I'll believe it when I see it.
  6. Note: there wouldn't be a problem with where to put him if he was a 'natural' at a certain position and it was obvious that he should play there.
  7. I went with the '04 redux
  8. Or just disappears completely. Neither will happen i'm not wrong. Yes you are.
  9. Before insulting people you should probably heed your own advice first. Theriot is not a natural SS. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ryan_Theriot Wikipedia. Seriously. Ok, only half condescendingly, there are these things called stats. They are the numerical record of what has happened on a baseball field. Particularly important to this discussion is noting where a person has played in his professional career. For instance, we can assume that because Matt Murton has played LF a lot that it would be safe to assume that this is his 'natural' position, as long as we are pretending that there is a vastly different skill set required for LF and RF, respectively. However, to call Theriot a 'natural' shortstop even though he's received the vast bulk of his professional playing time at places other than that position is, well, uninformed.
  10. Hopefully all the crappy trade proposals keep getting shot down so that all that is left for Hendry to do is accidentally have a good one with someone who plays outfield for the Reds.

  12. Not fixed. You've already admitted that he cannot get to the ball as well as Cedeno, and there's no way a player who is 27 years old improves his ability to throw a baseball hard. And no, Cedeno doesn't make way to many errors, not that it even matters.
  13. Fielding percentage is not good way to go about judging a player's defense, for obvious reasons. You can take Theriot all you want, but it appears this is not an either-or scenario. Both will be on the team, and if Cedeno doesn't go mentally numb when he gets up to the majors like he has in the past, it'll be quite obvious who is the better choice at the position.
  14. Cedeno hasn't been hitting for as much power recently, I'll grant... but he's still batting .310 in his last 10 games. And why on earth are you using errors to judge a player's defense? I thought the world was past that archaic mode of thought. Why on earth are you using batting average to judge a player's offense? I thought the world was past that archaic mode of thought. His defense doesn't worry me one bit. Great range don't mean crap when he drops the ball every time he gets to it, and considering the hitter paradise in Iowa's AAA league, I don't agree with this call up one bit. Need I remind you we have a right fielder who lives life day to day. I think you are severely overestimating Cedeno's fielding deficiencies. Hitter friendly league or not, Cedeno has been hitting well and with a decent amount of power when compared to the other hitters in his league. He has nothing left to prove in AAA, let him play with the big boys for a couple hundred more PA's and if he can't adjust send him to a sucker.
  15. First, #2 hitter isn't a position. Second, any and every team who wants to win should be looking to upgrade wherever and whenever they can. SS is one of these places for the Cubs. I'm not hot on Tejada because of the wrist injury, but if we're comparing him with Theriot I think I'll take my chances with Tejada pretty much every time. That being said, let's see what Ronny can do.

  17. Slumping? His power is a little down over the last couple of weeks, but I would hardly call him slumping.
  18. when has Ronny been on the basepaths enough for Lou to notice? Zing! In his limited appearances on base, he managed to overslide 2b (on a walk!) and otherwise look totally clueless as to what he should do in some pretty obvious situations this year... er, April.
  19. Dear Ronny Cedeno, Try to not be a dummy on the basepaths this time around, Lou doesn't like this.
  20. Interesting proposition, but I don't really see the benefit of the bother. Cedeno is younger and the jury is still out as to the level he can be successful at, while Lopez is older and we know what to expect from him, this year notwithstanding. While we might slightly benefit if Lopez can pick it up, I'd rather see what Cedeno could do over the next couple of years if he doesn't leave in a trade package sometime soon.
