This is totally aside his performance but Kyle Hendricks is the only starter on this team I really root to overcome odds and succeed. Arrieta is god mode, we know what we got with him, Lester, Hammel and Lackey are all established vets in their 30s, and all have various degrees of jerkface. Hendricks is the dude that doesn't look like he has any right to be on the team, and yet gets it done. And that smile, bruh, when he gives you the rare glimpse of his smile, it'll brighten up your day.

Ah well. That was a game. Lester didn't even pitch all that badly but got bizarrely squeezed and gave up a somewhat inexcusable double to the pitcher (even as decent as Cain is with the bat), the bullpen pitched magnificently and the Cubs rallied near the end. I like wins, though.

If they really care about pace of game they would get serious about putting in a clock between pitches. Purists would be pissed but games would be soooo much more watchable. I loved Mark Buehrle games for this reason, dude wasn't messing around and wanted to get those games finished quick. -

It would be totally fitting if the Cubs go around and just sweep the heck out of the Giants now. The Cubs 4 game sweep of the Giants in 2015 was a totally edifying moment, it was awesome. I remember being at a barbeque or something watching Rondon pitch himself into and out of a jam and it was just incredible.

Pat and Ron were incredulous that entire inning, they were shocked at how bad this pitcher was. Wonder how things would have gone if Javy didn't take his bat off his shoulder.
