  1. Pie has made strides. I think Patterson is much closer to his ceiling than Pie is right now - the question is will Pie get to his ceiling or not? I am not convinced Patterson is a better player right now but I think he is probably slightly less likely to collapse in the majors than Pie. As far as I know I think both are potential leadoff hitters. Does this mean in a couple of years Soriano gets moved to 5 spot?
  2. Kinda off-topic ... but does anybody know when Prior and Hill become free agents. Also, are there any of our important players becoming free agents next year besides Zambrano and Barrett? No Izturis is not important.
  3. It's Bruce Miles, and all the other sites got their information from the San Fransisco Chronicle. They probably got their info from Schmidt's agent, which Bruce said was probably a false rumor that the agent thought up. I doubt that SI.com and ESPN would have it as such big news if there was only a blurb about it in the San Francisco Chronicle. Rotoworld, yes, but not SI or ESPN. And this is separate from Chronicle. Schmidt: just sign with us so we can know for sure. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2006/baseball/mlb/11/28/schmidt.cubs/index.html Thats from the main baseball page from a reporter over at SI.com It doesn't mention Chronicle. Schmidt: Just sign with us so we an stop wondering. Sports Center just used the Chronicle as their source. They must be a some what confidant in it, but its still a rumor. Darn.

  5. I haven't seen a thread about this. Cards officially signed Wells. Per Rotoworld.

  7. It's Bruce Miles, and all the other sites got their information from the San Fransisco Chronicle. They probably got their info from Schmidt's agent, which Bruce said was probably a false rumor that the agent thought up. Let's all raid the agent's house and yell at him for getting us excited.
  8. Anybody have Schmidt's or Hendry's cell phone number? We should call them up and get this straight.
  9. Plus the bench and resigning Zambrano and I think we should resign Barrett.
  10. Let's stay realistic please. why is that unrealistic? Wells is in his contract year, quite possibly will leave Toronto anyway, they have a right-handed dominated lineup and lots of holes. Cubs or Blue Jays? He probably meant Cubs. But I don't hink we'd have much to offer. Especially if we swing a deal for Westbrook.
  11. I don't see how this eliminates them from Schmidt talks. Wishful thinking.
  12. Thank you. Igawa is going to have his butt handed to him by the AL, which in turns makes this instantly a bad decision for the Yanks. I love it. And one less Schmidt suitor. Now have Dodgers sign Maddux and the Mariners ... i don't know ...oooo resign Gil Meche.
  13. Rumor was also picked up by SI.com http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2006/baseball/mlb/11/28/schmidt.cubs/index.html
  14. Nooo. Lugo Bad for going to Red Sox.
  15. you have to get to the playoffs first. westbrook gives you a better chance of doing that than meche. Also with Z, Schmidt? and a healthy Prior (here that comes again) Westbrook wouldn't be a huge concern in the playoffs. If Hill reaches potential, Westbrook may not even make playoff rotation.
  16. I believe Ben Maller is the overnight guy on Fox Radio. He does some weekends and fill in work for FSR. The website he runs is fantastic. I check benmaller.com daily. Quite reliable as well.
  17. Who would be our closer until Wood gets used to pitching every day? Howry?
  18. Just the thing on BenMaller.com posted earlier. "Julio Lugo may take longer, though the Red Sox have clearly signaled their desire for the former Devil Rays shortstop, who had a .373 on-base percentage before being dealt to the Dodgers in midseason. The Giants and Cubs, along with the Orioles, are teams with interest, in addition to the Sox, and the Dodgers are expected to offer Lugo arbitration." Hopefully this is for shortstop and not for CF to replace Jones.
