  1. Like him or not, if you can't find a better way to argue against an opinion, than insulting someone's intelligence level, then just don't post.
  2. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/baseball/mlb/01/05/carpenter.cards.ap/index.html Sounds like they're thinking along the lines of Kerry Wood here...

  5. Thanks for posting that. I'm really surprised he didn't mention the SEC allegations being a factor at all. Maybe it would've been if he'd gotten further in the process. In any case, what he wrote makes sense. Too bad it didn't work out.
  6. If that happens, this could turn into a trainwreck in a hurry... At least it'll be entertaining.
  7. I agree. It seems he caught the Texas lightning in a bottle. He'll be fairly productive when he's healthy, but probably not nearly as good as he was last year. Anyone else sick to their stomachs knowing that we now have approximately $70 million tied up in Fukudome & Bradley for the next 3 years? Due to contracts, our offense will remain nearly exactly the same for the next 3 years. It better be good again. If there's something Hendry is good at, it's getting rid of bulky, bad contracts. This is the first year that money has been a concern with free agency, and that's only because ownership is up in the air. I'm not that concerned about those. Soriano is more painful to me, cuz it's for so much longer. I'm just glad this is done. We needed something in the plus column. Seemed like all minuses so far.
  8. The similarity to Prior is really interesting too. But then again, Peavy didn't run into Marcus Giles, or have Dusty Baker as manager.
  9. Dot races ok?
  10. I don't think that word means what you think it means... Some people think these moves are trangressions. As for Peavy, that situation is not directly related to any of these moves. As I blogged, the ownership situation has to sort itself out first. Was DeRosa a cancer in the clubhouse or was there something behind the scenes we are not privy to? It seems pretty odd to move on of your better offensive players for 3 B- or C rated prospects. Even if this isn't related to Peavy, they needed to clear up money for Bradley. Exactly. So trading Marquis wasn't enough? I mean, it seems like Miles cancels out the money saved by trading Marquis. And he wouldn't have been necessary without the Derosa trade....*sigh*
  11. Awesome picks. I'm definitely not a hockey guy, but I'll be watching tomorrow for sure. One of the first ever hockey games I've been excited about.
  12. Speaking of different types of going out on a limb, I'll go out on one and say he's not the only one...heh
  13. So in terms of next year's team, we just traded DeRosa and Marquis for Bradley and Miles Yep. That's not good. Peavy pretty much has to happen now to make this offseason a success. Actually we've more or less traded Reed Johnson, Mark DeRosa, and Jason Marquis for Milton Bradley, Mike Fontenot and Sean Marshall. We're better off because of the moves. Personally I would have liked to have gotten different players in the Marquis and DeRosa moves but getting them moved was more important than the guys we got back. Miles though was unnecessary but in a backup role, he can't hurt us too much. How come we can assume the Bradley signing and not the Peavy trade? :)
  14. I don't want Sheets. We already have an injury prone pitcher in Harden.
  15. Same with my wife. She would've dumped me for Derosa if the opportunity presented itself.
  16. Except the first 2 haven't happened.

  19. Looks like Bruce didn't exactly shoot it down a few posts back.
  20. Guess I can get that jersey with my name on it now. If only the Cubs would trade for Jay Bruce.
  21. Levine sure is getting a lot of scoops....hmmm. I don't wanna start letting myself think the Peavy thing is a possibility.
