  1. http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=jc-burressvick062909&prov=yhoo&type=lgns I can understand Plaxico being suspended because his case hasn't taken its course through the justice system yet but suspending Vick just seems like Goodell being a power tripping douche. Yeah, it's awful but he did his time and if some team wants to give him a shot they should be able to pursue him without the threat of a suspension. Agreed. What's the point of suspending Vick?
  2. I like him a little, jsut for the entertainment value. I wouldn't want him as my manager...though like you, I think there's worse managers out there. I don't understand finding entertainment in having your team's manager act like a total ass at all times and repeat childish insults about other fans bases. I mean, I wouldn't find it entertaining if Lou criticized Milwaukee or Stl. He's a crap manager who gets all sorts of nonsensical praise for making things happen all because he managed the Sox in a season when their starting pitchers were healthy and at their best and their hitters nailed a bunch of big homeruns. They haven't done crap since then but it doesn't matter because he knows how baseball is supposed to be played, and he swears a lot. Well he's entertainment because he's someone else's manager acting like a total ass...not my team's. I was mostly responding to the bolded statement. Ahhhhhh. I'll shut up now.

  4. I'm perfectly ok with this, and not at all surprised. But when A-Ram comes back, Fox is gonna be a bench guy. I wonder how many other NL teams have 2 DH's.

  6. No surprise here, but the Trib says it's Fuld.
  7. Bears-Packers was on last night from the 2nd to last game of the last season. That was the game where we forced overtime, and Robbie kicked a GW FG...after the refs flipped the coin off Urlacher's helmet...lol I really think Hester and Olsen are gonna have a great year with Cutler back there. I'm excited.
  8. I think you could turn any conversation into a US history conversation.
  9. 3 teams in front of them. Closer to last place than first. Yes, they have a shot in a mediocre division, but it's still perfectly reasonable to be pessimistic about this team. We were 16 games over .500 last year at this time, and that's after losing 4 in a row.
  10. Oh good...cuz that was what I was worried about....you not liking Len.
  11. I think the implication was that Geo was informed that he had failed a test long before it was made public oh, i didn't hear that. still though, i doubt geo was stressing over it. nobody should care You should probably read the articles about it, rather than mocking the opinions of those that DO know about it. Geo said in the intial press conference that this has been a pretty fair amount of stress for him for the last six weeks.
  12. From what Soto said, it sounds like this being a secret and hanging over him was more of a distraction, at least to him, if not the team. I imagine all of the players knew about this all season. It's just the public reaction that is new here. It being in the open, and passing after a few days might be exactly what is needed to loosen him up.
  13. Geo found out about the test in April. He's been wanting to make a statement about it since then to get it over with, but the Cubs wanted to wait for the IBF. The Cubs got tired of waiting, and decided to talk about it now.
  14. Matt Hollidays probably the top prize. Jake Peavy and Eric Bedard are both in there as well, but is questionable if either will be available by then. DeRosas appeal is his versatility, and the teams in need all need an infielder more than an outfielder, most notably the Cardinals(3B or 2B), Brewers(3B or 2B), Cubs(2B) and Mets(1B or 2B), and DeRosa can fill any of those. Ok, maybe top prize was the wrong term. But I think he's getting the most interest as far as number of teams pursuing him.
  15. It's a strange trade deadline when Mark Derosa is the top prize.
  16. I don't think it's a big deal either, in the right context. Unfortunately for Geo, he's not in the same context as you or I. He's held to a higher standard, higher responsibilities, and he messed up. It kind of bothers me no one on this board seems to care. BS. He's held to a LOWER standard. If I failed any kind of a drug test, I'd be fired, or worse, arrested. Athletes get away with worse things all the time. Don't confuse high publicity for high standards. Baseball is pretty low on the "responsibility" scale too.
  17. 4 game win streak followed by 4 game losing streak. Weeeeee.
  18. Well, it's highly possible that Soto had not actually used marijuana for a month before the test. Especially as, um, portly as he came into camp. Pot mainly stores in fat cells. The real joke here is that his smoking pot is even an issue. Or illegal. From you, alright!?!? I learned it from watching you!!
  19. Just one time....famous last words...the media is gonna be all over him looking for something now.
  20. And they apparantly just killed a guy on Brazil, oh wait, he's fine, nevermind. I lol'd.
  21. Just pay $60 for a program, and you too can have this deal.
  22. Really? We were a Gregg meatball short of winning that game yesterday. Edit: Er.....Tuesday.
  23. He can PH everyday and start occasionally. Meanwhile we have to start a Fontenot or a Blanco every day. I'm just lamenting that we can't get that bat in there more often long term. He screams trade bait to me.
