  1. i dont understand your posts. why are we nuts? because we're being unbiased in our assessment of the series so far. the flyers have played us evenly for 3 straight games and are giving us all sorts of problems. i'm not sure how that's not a concern to you. Because those problems have lead to us winning 2 out of 3 games. I'll take a repeat of that.
  2. Seriously, this thread is lame. It's ridiculous to be this freaked out over a road overtime loss. Really.
  3. Philadelphia didn't play particularly well in Game 1 at the very least. The fact that they've played crappy three games in a row could have just a tiny little bit to do with the opponent forcing them to play crappy. Or it could be that the Hawks have been an up and down team all season.
  4. Because Philly fans are nuts. They think that Boston series was something they can do all the time now.
  5. That's only because he had a couple shutouts against teams without an attack of their own. Philly has been at their best for three games, it's not all that impressive and they don't have another gear. Chicago has been a bit ho-hum, and they are up 2-1. They should win 2 of 3 again soon. i'm not saying it's likely, i'm just asking "what if?". that would suck, considering he's the main reason we're up 2-1. The fact that Chicago is better is the main reason. better team when? in the regular season? do you think the hawks have outplayed them this series by more than a marginal amount? i don't. i think it's been pretty even and maybe slightly tilted to the flyers. The Hawks are better because they've played crappy and beaten a team playing well 2 of 3.
  6. Wasn't that Game 2? Yeah...that's what I thought. I don't know that Leighton has more in him than what we saw in game 2.
  7. Eh...if we lose tonight, it would suck for sure, but it's still be a situation where both teams won their home games. I guess it would depend on how they lost as to how much I'd be panicked. I really think that the Hawks are due for a dominant performance in this series at some point.
  8. Selig said yesterday that they won't be overturning the Galarraga call.

  10. The 1985 St. Louis Cardinals make me disagree. Make them replay the game with the original players.
  11. and a no hitter. and a record breaking HR. and a 21 K game. and... I'm not saying he shouldn't do it, but it's something that would be referenced for anything that someone wants reviewed by the commish in the future. So Galarraga should be screwed out of a perfect game that he rightfully earned because other people may use replay so they won't get screwed out of other things that they rightfully earned as well? Really? Yeah, I don't get that. How often does an ump completely blow the last out of a historically significant moment? And then completely fess up to messing it up? It's an incredibly unique situation, and if it opens up the door to getting more historically significant events correct when they are incorrectly blown by umps, well...I don't think that's a slippery slope that's too dangerous. Can we retroactively take away the White Sox world series? See! No downside!

  14. If Selig was willing to let the 03 All-Star Game end in a tie, I don't see why he wouldn't want to do something that was truly good for the game. It really seems like everyone universally wants this reviewed and fixed...the player, the ump, the fans, the media... There's no downside, and I don't think it would set a precedent for anything other than the final out of a perfect game.
  15. It'd be nice if the sports gods had given you something to talk about today. :P

  17. I might have to just ignore this thread until after the Blackhawks next win.
  18. As opposed to what though? Would I take a split? Sure. I'd also take 2 wins. I'd take anything that didn't result in the Blackhawks losing the series...
  19. You must have watched a different game 1 third period than I did. Not to mention we're a couple of post dingers away from having a bigger lead in game 3.
  20. i never heard a whistle but it did get extremely loud after the puck rolled along the line. that's where i'm sure the "intent to blow" rule comes into play. Yeah...and it wasn't just extremely loud...the goal horn blew. I'm sure the intent to blow rule was what was going on there.
  21. My thoughts: -They may have needed this loss. Sometimes you start to feel bulletproof during a long win streak. This loss still has Philly in a precarious position (going down 3-1 is almost as bad as 3-0), and maybe can get the Hawks to start playing with some more urgency. - I felt like the Hawks lacked urgency all night long. It was like they were waiting for things to happen instead of making them happen. - There was some really sloppy passing going on. Maybe it was Philly's forecheck that was making it look that way, but they had several times where Philly had nothing to do with it...it was just a pass in front or behind each other that killed all the momentum of the rush. - At least two of Philly's goals never touched the back of the net. They got pretty damn lucky on a couple of those goals. Anyway, it sucks to lose (forgot what that was like), but I'm not really worried yet. I think we win on Friday night. Niemi is due for another "stand on his head" performance, and Kane is starting to break through.
  22. People older than 10 years old play kickball?
  23. Oh yeah? I heard he said the Cavs have an edge...what got you excited?
  24. I think the Hawks win tonight. They really have done a good job stepping on the throat of the other team and just preventing hope of winning. That said, I'd rather lose tonight than win tonight and lose game 4. I don't want to give Philly fans any ideas that they can repeat the comeback.
