  1. That was one game. Compared to 3 of 26 teams scoring more than one goal in 13 games.
  2. You only hear "nothing" because the Vuvuzelas have deafened you.
  3. Is Doc Emerick available for World Cup announcing duties?
  4. My point really wasn't to start an NHL vs MLS/Soccer argument. Clearly neither are hugely popular in the US, though I'd say both are trending upward. I was trying to bring a little levity to sulley and my complaints about soccer. I'll watch some of the world cup, but I doubt I'll ever consider myself a soccer fan. That said, my intent really wasn't to run it down. I still contend that the NHL is more popular in the US than MLS, but I'm not interested in debating it.
  5. Wherever they are, I'm sure the non-niche crowd will just find out by the SI cover. They only put soccer on the cover in the non-US regions.
  6. That is....less than correct. By what measure? 27 million people watched the gold medal Olympic hockey game. 4.9 million watched USA vs England soccer. Granted, that's a finale vs opening round... 13 million people watched the USA v. England soccer game inside the U.S. You're right...I was looking at the average viewership for the first round by mistake.

  8. Hockey: The gold standard for captivating sports and immense popularity Oh come on. Of the popular american sports, hockey is the closest thing we have to soccer. And hockey is also more popular within the US. Granted, soccer is more of a global sport, but I feel confident in saying that sulley was speaking for absolutely nobody but himself in this case.
  9. It will open up some in the 2nd series of games. Right now a lot of teams are content drawing, but there has been plenty of chances to score. A lot of the players don't seem to be very in sync with their teams right now. A format that encourages playing for a draw is a poor format, imo.
  10. He also said that Nebraska and Colorado were wise to get out when they could. We'll see what kind of rules are put in place to prevent other schools from bolting, but I agree with him. Man...those schools were truly terrified of life after the Big 12.
  11. Also, 6 of the 13 games are ties so far if I'm counting correctly. That won't do much to appeal to US audiences.
  12. Eh...I'm not all bent out of shape about it or anything. But the magazine comes out 52 issues a year...I figured they could manage to have 4 covers reserved for the 4 major sport champs. I still have a bunch of SI's from the MJ Bulls years.
  13. http://a323.yahoofs.com/ymg/ept_sports_nhl_experts__65/ept_sports_nhl_experts-516875119-1276613294.jpg?ymuaSTDDuAEQrHxA Only the Chicago area gets the Blackhawks cover. Everyone else gets Strasburg. Sorry...as awesome as the kid may be, a Championship team should always get the cover.
  14. Internationally, yes. Tony Parker was on the French cover of NBA Live for 2 years in a row. Pau Gasol was on the Spanish one for 3 years in a row. But in the US....I can't find any....at least not EA titles. Tiger Woods Golf! I am ashamed.

  16. Been posting all morning without difficulty.
  17. 3-4 years? Dick Dent, do you realize your team completely crapped the bed on what should have been a dynasty? The only thing I could think he meant there was that they had a "smashmouth" style for a 3-4 year span? But that's really trying to look for some accuracy where there isn't any.
  18. Deja vu again!
  19. Usually athletes and "Gold Clubs" don't work out so well.
  20. Yay....I'm not crazy. http://www.northsidebaseball.com/forum/topic?f=6&t=56745&p=2379891&hilit=mulder#p2379891
  21. Man...deja vu. I could've sworn this already happened.
  22. Wow...is MJ gonna come out and start yapping next? Everybody seems to want to be the "best" champion in town...
  23. That's the assumption that's being made, but no...there's not a confirmation yet. Just that screenshot of the EA site. But sure seems like that's the way it's gonna go.
  24. More people probably care about this here than in the video game thread. The page got taken down at EA, but of course someone screenshotted it... http://media.operationsports.com/shots/1276561258-media.jpg That's 2 Blackhawks in a row if you're counting along at home.
