  1. Fun to play around with... http://espn.go.com/nfl/playoffs/machine
  2. I wonder if the NCAA would have ruled Cam Newton ineligible and laid stiff penalties on Auburn if it wasn't for a non-AQ sitting in the wings waiting to take Auburns spot in the NCG.
  3. Why would I be talking about the Sacremento Kings when I was talking about LA area teams? If you're not a hockey fan, I could see how you'd make that mistake. Sometimes all those California teams just kinda get grouped together.
  4. That's some kind of insane excuse. Why does Burleson care about attendance? Is there a bonus in his contract if the Lions draw a certain number of fans? Does part of his job involve working in marketing? He said some stupid [expletive] now, just like he said stupid [expletive] on the Seahawks. Burleson didn't do this because of the Lions...he did it because he wants those cameras to be pointed at him.
  5. I think Minny-Packers is a much bigger deal than Minny-Chi. It is. But all of you need to stop talking about this before I cry. I don't even know what I would do. If it happens, we'll take up a collection to get you started with some Bears gear.
  6. Could be...Urlacher loves to talk, but isn't always good at it. But isn't that the point? $50k might be a huge amount to one guy and nothing to another guy. A strict percentage would at least ensure a similar disincentive to everyone, regardless of salary/status. EDIT: Bob's suggestion would work.
  7. If that's his concern, perhaps he should be advocating that fines be assessed as a percentage of salary, rather than a "flat rate". Where was he advocating a flat rate? I read that he said something about different levels. Right...sorry...I just meant flat rate as in a set dollar amount. Instead of assessing a $50k penalty, assess 1% of salary penalty. I think his "different levels" thing was in regards to severity of the hit, not necessarily to account for salary. At least that's how I read it.

  9. Urlacher doesn't like the NFL fines... Um...Brian, there's already a group of people that are involved... So that's at least 4 people, not counding the NFLPA.
  10. Why do I keep reading about a Vikings turnaround? For example... http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2010/writers/dom_bonvissuto/12/01/nfl-playoff-projections-week-13/1.html They project us losing the NE, Minny and GB games. But seriously, why is there a sentiment that the Vikings are all of a sudden a tough game? Because they dropped a whopping 17 on the Redskins? Meanwhile they have GB winning out.
  11. Other teams injure the other teams players during games. Not the Bears. They're too good. They injure the other teams players BEFORE they play them!
  12. Yeah...it's a procedural thing...so that Auburn could "report" it and the NCAA could dismiss it. Pretty shady, imo.
  13. CNN.com Breaking News That should end any doubts on the Heisman race too.
  14. If the Jags moved, would KC move to the AFC south?
  15. Peppers won NFC defensive player of the month. Cutler is one of the NFC players of the week.
  16. Minny's lease is about to expire. The Jags isn't.
  17. No? I think it'd be fun to have another Chi-STL rivalry. I think Minny-Packers is a much bigger deal than Minny-Chi.
  18. I'd bet STL would go to the North. I don't think they'd get their own division.
  19. Yeah yeah. And we'll all reiterate our objections to it. Do we need to keep having that conversation?
  20. To get ahead of myself by a lot for just a minute...I bet it'd be a historically bad OL DVOA for a SB team...heh.
  21. Just score more than 26. Bears haven't given up more than the 26 points they allowed to the Eagles all season.
  22. Same on CBSSportsline. For the sake of griping, I will gripe about the Steelers being ahead of the Bears. The common games between them and the Bears are Miami and Buffalo. Steelers beat Miami by 1 thanks to a ruling worse than the Bears win over Detroit. Took them til OT to beat the Bills. Bears beat the Dolphins 16-0 and the Bills by a TD. Also, I'd be willing to bet that the Bears don't get wiped out at home vs. NE as the Steelers did. Steelers only wins vs. teams above .500? Miami- see above Tampa- who is only over .500 because of their weak schedule. Fewer quality wins + less impressive common game wins = Bears should be ahead. Probably won't change much though...Steelers have a really light schedule left...Jets are really the only team worth a damn left for them.
  23. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2010/baseball/mlb/11/29/rockies.tulowitzki/index.html?xid=cnnbin&hpt=Sbin
  24. Just realized that the Pats are going to be coming to Chicago on a short week...they play the Jets on the Monday before coming here. While we come home off playing the Lions on the road.
  25. Haha...from FO's comments on the game: Yes...I'm 4 years old and fart jokes still amuse me.
