  1. Well, that's cool and all. But one doesn't really have anything to do with the other.
  2. I nearly wrote almost a very, very similar post. Even the bit about thinking last year was gonna be a tough start. I'm thinking 9-10 wins this year, unless that O-line is better than we all think it'll be.
  3. Which makes me think that Chris Williams is probably the most likely candidate to get replaced by Spencer. Yeah, Tice's quote about the 5 being set unless one of them proves him wrong makes me think they are pressuring Williams to improve, or they will slot Spencer into C with Garza back to RG and Louis flipping to left side. They could also decide to just slide Spencer in at left guard to keep everyone else where they are. I think they actually like Garza at C. They could, but I think that puts more guys at unfamiliar positions. Spencer is a C, Garza is a G. Seems odd to try out an old guard at center and have your new center learn to play guard when you can just put them both in their normal positions. I agree, but I think they like having a guy that's been around a while being at center.
  4. I wish we were facing Atl when it was colder out. That said, schedule strengths/weaknesses usually change once the season gets rolling. We were nervous about games 2-4 last year.

  8. Didn't he just miss 2-3 practices because of a minor injury? I always assumed that Williams and Knox were going to line up on opposite ends, not compete for snaps. Yeah, Knox was out on Friday and Saturday. http://www.suntimes.com/sports/football/bears/6921272-417/bears-johnny-knox-roy-williams-in-wr-battle.html http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/football/bears/ct-spt-0807-brite-bears-chicago--20110807,0,7853744.story That quote cracks me up, cuz apparently you bring in Chris Spencer (who's making more $$ than Roy Williams) to sit on the bench.
  9. Johnn Knox is losing snaps to Roy Williams. I was initially suprised, but given the issues he had running routes correctly, maybe the coaching staff is frustrated with him?

  11. They'll do everything possible to keep Carimi away from LT this season, I bet. I bet we'll see Omiyale over there before Carimi. I just don't think they want him over there on a short offseason. They want to put him somewhere where they think he can succeed, and gain confidence.
  12. I blame you....hater. :)
  13. Brian Waters. Maybe Shawn Andrews.
  14. First Bears preseason game is a week from tomorrow.
  15. Cutler on Roy Williams: It makes me wonder if, rightly or wrongly, this was the Bears thinking with free agency. I wonder if they were worried that free agents wouldn't have time to learn the things they'd need to learn, and that they might be better of spending big on free agents next year?
  16. Yay...Georgia doesn't play some crappy team right after playing Boise. *Shakes fist at VT*
  17. ESPN's grade: I'm amused that Aromashadu is a key loss, but Manning gets no mention.
  18. Well it's not just that though. Osi is holding out because he wants to rework his contract.
  19. They kinda made that sound different than the original article.... http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/football/giants/2011/08/03/2011-08-03_osi_umenyiora_says_he_wont_practice_so_jerry_reese_and_giants_send_him_home_to_c.html#ixzz1U3vtr4Um
  20. Football Outsiders ranks McNabb, Hill, Henne ahead of him last year. FO counts sacks as passes. Which obviously is a big hindrance for Jay, given the OL. Okay but Detroit's pass protection was worse (last in the league) and Washington's was only 5 spots ahead of the Bears. that's moronic and indisputably wrong i'd definitely buy our run blocking being amongst the worst, but pass pro was actually a relative strength from an offensive line standpoint Ha...I didn't even go look it up. FO has Detroit's pass protection at 4th best in the league. Washington was 22nd. Bears were 32nd. Hawkeye was looking at run blocking. Pass protection is in blue. http://www.footballoutsiders.com/stats/ol

Cutler was sacked 52 times.
