  1. Bad news for Mizzou:
  2. The thing about the line reshuffling is it's all the same ingredients. A couple guys are playing different positions, but the only people unfamiliar with the system are the now backup C and the 1st round rookie RT. All the other guys have been on this team and with each other for "reshuffling" to be a somewhat weak excuse in my opinion. The problem is quality of the players more than anything. Ideal scenario for me. Louis out, Garza to G, Spencer to C, Replace Williams with Brian Waters. Switch the tackles.
  3. http://www.csnchicago.com/08/14/11/Moon-Changes-in-order-for-the-O-line-/landing_moon_v3.html?blockID=548962&feedID=9399 A bit of O-line analysis from Moon Mullin, and what O-line changes could take place.
  4. All those issues are simply built in excuses for playing poorly based on how poorly they put the line together. No, you can't excuse it. The line playing poorly should not be acceptable even if it is inevitable. It's the first preseason game, they weren't giving additional help to the line...they were trying to see where their guys were at. I understand that frustration at the OL. There's a lot of at best questionable players on that line. But I just can't condemn them based on the first preseason game. I'm sure I'll join the chorus beating them up later on, but I'm not gonna [expletive] on them just yet.
  5. You can't excuse a line with only one guy in the same position as last year, with no offseason and 2 weeks of practice struggling in the first 2 possessions of a preseason game? I mean, I want them to do better too, but you're pretty demanding.
  6. Weren't there 9 sacks? I think it was 4 (5?) allowed by the starting OL, and 2 of those were arguably Hanie holding onto the ball too long. Also they didn't do any chip blocking with the TE or RB. They did run block pretty darn well...obviously pass protection is a work in progress, to say the least.
  7. Poll on chicagosports.com: Sosa vs. Zambrano: Who did the Cubs enable more? http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/poll/chi-110814-cubs-poll,0,7238850.poll
  8. It can't be healthy to actively dislike my favorite baseball team as much as I have in the past year or two.
  9. They've only had 2 weeks of practice so far guys, and only one player on the line is starting at the same position they did last year. I don't think they're very good at the moment, but I do think (hope) they'll improve.
  10. Does that site pay you to advertise for them? ;)
  11. Yep. I think that's probably why the officials allowed it.
  12. Apparently the Bears asked for, and got permission from the officials before the game, but the league was not so accomodating.
  13. Without a doubt. Barber looked great, and Bell looks impressive too, though against 2nd/3rd string. I think so. He looks strong. Ghoulston did too though. I want to see more of both of them.
  14. To practice coverage. that sounds insane. It makes sense though. They get less practice time now after the new CBA, and it's a short offseason already. The practice time that they do get is mostly spent on offense and defense, not ST. So use preseason games to practice. And touchbacks are no help in determining anything. I actually thought it was a pretty slick idea.
  15. To practice coverage. Offensive line settled down after a while, but hard to say if that was because of personnel differences on the Bills end. Ghoulston and Akoye both looked pretty good, imo. Special Teams looks like it'll be a strength again.
  16. Erik Kramer on Jay Cutler, paraphrased: "His footwork and reads look like they're improved, but more important, he's taking on more of a leadership role."
  17. Zambrano's brought a lot of [expletive] on himself, without a doubt. But lets not pretend that the Cubs are handling things incredibly well here. The Cubs are handling this in the most publicly stupid way possible. This reminds me so much of Sammy.
  18. Mizzou denying pretty hard that they've had any contact with the SEC.
  19. Nationally, nope....not unless you have Sunday Ticket. NFL network has been doing live look-ins on the preseason games, so you might get to see a bit of it that way. I don't even think Sunday Ticket is available for preseason games. I don't recall it in the past. My bad, if that's the case. I haven't gotten Sunday Ticket...was an assumption on my part.
  20. Like I said in the the other Bears thread, the NFLN does live look-in's on the preseason games. You might get lucky and see bits and pieces.
  21. It was my understanding that he cleaned out his locker and left before the game was over. Is that incorrect? If that's the case, I misunderstood the sequence of events, and if he left before the game was over, I'd think at least a bit of discipline was in order, but I'm still not overly concerned about it. But I'm sure the Cubs will overreact and make this into a gigantic issue.
