  1. I think there's a middle ground between "losing our [expletive]" and being concerned that the possibility of the trading deadline going badly is higher than it seemed to be a few weeks ago. It is my belief that this thread has well surpassed reasonable concern. well that's just silly. It's blown up from time to time but is pretty obviously relatively measured statements of justifiable annoyance. "Put him in the bullpen" and "bench him" are just a couple of examples that we've seen in this thread. I'm not saying that everyone is flying off the handle, but there's a good amount of overreaction going on.

  3. I think we should call him Dumpster! Haha! That'll really burn him.
  4. I wonder if it's just to get them doing something physical on day one. Apparently the new CBA says they can't practice on the first day of TC.
  5. Rizzo hadn't exactly been sliding, but he sure wasn't doing a ton lately. Glad to see that one.
  6. The deadline is Tuesday, not today. Lets just take a deep breath, and see what happens before we lose our [expletive], shall we?
  7. Nice. I think that's the first day they'll wear pads.
  8. they still apply. that has come up before, I believe with Lee Ok. I figured they probably had to, but thought I'd ask.
  9. Do 10 and 5 rights still apply in the case of a waiver situation? If the Cubs waive Dempster after the deadline, and someone makes a claim, can they work out a trade without Dempster being able to reject?
  10. Who are we blaming here? The Cubs don't have a lot of control over this Dempster thing, you know that, right? Also, they can't make Garza magically not be hurt, or not have a kid.
  11. I just read that too. I wonder what prompted this. Was there a lot of reporting out of shape in previous years? Biggs noted there was a longer layoff between the offseason program and start of training camp this year, so it may just be a way to see who kept in shape during that time. That doesn't make sense. Last year there was no offseason program and TC started late cuz of the labor stuff. Unless he's just meaning compared to other normal offseasons?
  12. @mlbbowman Wrn said little has changed regarding Dempster. He does not rule out the possibility of Demp in ATL, but says it's "highly unlikely."
  13. Yeah, I don't think the conclusion really fit the quote.
  14. Some interesting RB analysis from Grantland. http://www.grantland.com/story/_/id/8190917/breaking-numbers-game-ground-pounders They point out that Forte gets more of his yardage when up big than other backs. Forte's lack of TD's really hurts him in this "race" as well.

  16. This didn't get the attention it should have. Colletti is either playing russian roulette with his rotation or he has a deal in place for a SP(which may or may not be Dempster). I still don't get the 24 hour thing. If Dempster wanted to approve a deal to LA, and a deal was agreed to yesterday, I don't see why it would take until said moratorium passed to get out, anyway. Yeah I've never heard of that 24 hour thing before this. I actually think the reason that Dempster is mad is because he's wanted to decline this the whole time. I think he wanted to do it quietly though, because obviously now he comes off as a big jerk. Hell this deal could've been around for a while, and was leaked by ATL to try to put some pressure on Demp.
  17. Sounds like most everyone is already in camp. Forte, Urlacher, Cutler...etc. Carimi and Urlacher are both supposed to be full speed, ready to go. Carimi sounds a bit more hesitant than Urlacher when he talks about it though. The only real injury we're still dealing with is Knox, who will likely start the season on the PUP.
  18. That gives me the impression we'll know by tomorrow. Ok, that blindside stuff makes no sense.
  19. No idea what he looks like. Is he the ginger? Yeah. http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_L2gqY-Bfse0/Se3brz4qUuI/AAAAAAAAAoo/x-oCeZmW210/s400/Zach+Zaidman.jpg
  20. The filter really ruined that for you.
  21. You can always spot Zaidman.
  22. Couple things from the Emery PC: Knox is doing light running, and will open on the PUP if he's not ready. The Matt Forte contract was "win, win"
  23. Maybe, who knows at this point. But if they're gonna spend money on a pitcher, don't you think this FO is probably more likely to spend it on a younger player that they might be able to get a few productive seasons out of?
