  1. What a terrible list. I guess I can buy Detroit #1, if you go by the theory that Calvin Johnson is so much better than every WR on earth that he alone makes them the top WR corps. But if that's the case, Arizona should be much higher. But Cincy at #7 with AJ Green and 3 rookies? Jackson and Maclin in Philly ranked higher than more productive duos such as Nicks/Cruz, Wallace/Brown, Jones/White, Austin/Bryant? I even think 31 and 32 are mixed up. sbnation is basically the BleacherReport, meaning any dolt can write for them. I have no idea why articles like this upset you guys so much. Oh but it does. I'm so, so upset.
  2. $$$$$$$$$$$$$ Ok, why would the Cubs pay for a 36yo pitcher when they're rebuilding? It just doesn't seem to be a match with the way that Theo and Jed are going about all this. A) They have the money. B) They have a desperate need to fill 5 spots and barely any pitchers to fill them. I just think they'll go with a cheaper, younger option if they're just looking to eat innings. Paying Dempster a ton for one season doesn't really seem to make sense.

  4. Emery PC at 2:30. Prob will talk about Knox opening on the PUP, among other things.
  5. So far, Garza, Chris Williams, Spencer, Mannelly, Podlesh, Earl Bennett and DJ Moore have all shown up for camp. I believe today was rookie report day, and tomorrow is full squad report day.
  6. i think we've heard enough in regards to his willingness to be traded if it helps the cubs and his willingness to go to atlanta that i'll be right to be upset if he doesn't go. I understand why some would be upset, and I wouldn't necessarily blame them. Yep, and I don't know that I'll be that "upset", but definitely disappointed. If he shoots the deal down, how does that sit with the FO, as far as looking to re-sign him in the offseason? I wouldn't anticipate it happening. I'm not sure it's happening anyway. Not sure why he'd want to be pitching for a rebuilding team at 36yo anyhow.

  8. Of course it would be justified then, but it's not looking like anything right now. Only Dempster really knows what he's thinking. I really don't see the need to stress until the door is closed on this thing.
  9. So...you're telling me ppl have different opinions and preferences? Odd. And others have the right to the opinion that Dempster is being unreasonable if, in fact, he is upset about what went down yesterday. Yes, they do have the right to have the wrong opinion. :)

  11. Knicks agree to one year deal with Ronnie Brewer.
  12. All we're saying is that those that are bent out of shape about a less than 24 hour delay come off as a bit silly, when there's been no trade rejection. Athletes in control of where and when they want to be traded/signed is the new norm, especially in the age of Twitter. Dempster, if anything, is handling this much better than some other high profile trades that have been attempted in major sports recently.
  13. You're assuming that you know an awful lot of behind the scenes details.
  14. @JonHeymanCBS yet another padre off the trade block. #padres intend to keep volquez.
  15. In the age of Twitter, it probably wouldn't hurt to be a little more pragmatic. It's not hurting anything as is.
  16. Of course, that's about three unique steps of projection... I'm gonna be really mad at him when he punches Theo and says "I'm not going anywhere, bitch!"
  17. Anybody have any reports from the guy in a purple shirt? Maybe he's seen Delgado at a Starbucks?
  18. Blindsided? He's been on the block for over a month. This was his 2nd choice. Just 3-4 days ago a trade with The Dodgers was supposedly near completion. How much less blindsided could he have possibly been? He thought he was going to the Dodgers. Wanted to be told first by the Cubs. It's an extra day. Easy.
  19. Jerry Crasnick ‏@jcrasnick Dempster is pitching Wednesday, so #cubs and #braves should know soon whether he'll accept or reject the deal. Jerry Crasnick ‏@jcrasnick Dempster deal yet another example of what GMs now have to deal with in the Twitter age.
  20. SBnation ranks the Bears as the 27th best WR group... http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/2012/7/23/3175624/nfl-receiver-rankings
  21. LOL. I love how every Bears article written by someone outside of the organization can be summed up as such. I hate Cutler, but he really grew up last year. I mean, he's still a jerk but he's a very talented QB. They had to (past or present articles) pay Forte. He's their best offensive weapon. They might have overpaid, but he's the only player on the team! Brandon Marshall is crazy! He gets kicked off of every team he's ever been on (2) because of his crazyness! It's almost like he has a personality disorder or something! But the Bears have to put up with his crazy because he works well with Jay Cutler, who is talented but only had good seasons when he had a threat at WR. Defense and special teams win every game for them, they score 100s of points off turnovers, 100s off of returns, and give the offense short fields, which is good because Forte is their only weapon and Cutler, who I hate, is always hurt behind that poor offensive line. But if they are healthy they can make the playoffs and if they are lucky, they could possibly beat Green Bay, who is vastly superior to them. You forgot to put tons of emphasis on backup players, but otherwise, pretty accurate.
  22. They're probably more newsworthy than probably 75% of the posts on the board.
  23. The Packers should be afraid of the Bears, not the Lions
  24. Haha. That's good stuff.
