  1. It all depends on your definition of "good". Or zilch.
  2. omg Jason Campbell should be starting!
  3. http://www.weei.com/sports/boston/this-just-in/21214346/source-sox-not-actively-pursuing-dempster FWIW, Jason Stark said on the radio this morning that if he had to say where Dempster would go he would say the Red Sox, added that it would be a perfect fit for them. ESPN guys always say either the Red Sox or Yankees, and since the Yankess have really put down the idea of getting Dempster....the Sox are all that's left in that section of the country.
  4. The Bulls announced the preseason schedule.
  5. Haha...so now Rosenbloom is saying his real problem with it is that if Forte gets injured, then we have to still pay him for next year or soemthing. Yes Steve, that's how big boy football works. Sometimes you have to guarantee money to good players. http://www.chicagotribune.com/video/breaking/chi-rosenbloom-if-forte-stays-healthy-great-if-not-ewww-20120717,0,675365.premiumvideo

  7. Debatable, but probably. Lynch was ridiculous the second half of last year though. And now Marshawn Lynch gets his 2nd DUI (1st one killed someone IIRC) and will likely be suspended for a lot of next season. LOL Seattle. Nah, he hit some drunk lady that was dancing in the middle of the street during the first one, but she didn't die. It was a hit and run though.
  8. "listen, theo, we're ready to do what it takes to get this thing done today, we'll offer what it takes, just hear us out" "w/e bro, i have to go throw batting practice, try and catch me on an off day" So much for the off day theory.
  9. Ray Rice beat the clock. 5yr/40mil with $25mil in the first 2 years. Those front loaded deals are a terrible idea for teams. They end up in a position like the Jets are in with Revis, where he's talking about sitting out again cuz he wants a raise, since the high paying years are behind him. Dwayne Bowe, Cliff Avril, and Dashon Goldson all missed the deadline.
  10. It's going to be an interesting year for Forte. Presumably, he won't catch near the number of balls that he has in the best few years. He may also be blocking more on passing plays, since we have receivers that should be able to get open.
  11. Ozzie is a clown.
  12. This is obviously an extreme example, but teams certainly passed on Barry Bonds because of a stigma. He'd have certainly played longer based on performance. We see guys signed on a positive reputation that has no basis in numbers all the time. Neifi Perez had a career based on it. If GM's pay attention to positive reputations like that, I think it's possible that a negative one could influence them as well. But what besides being grossly overpaid was negative about Soriano? Silly stuff, nothing substantive for sure. Definitely not to Barry Bonds level. But fan reaction has been down (based on the contract and the perception that it's an albatross), he goes through some lengthy slumps (followed by enormous hot streaks) and not being the best defensive player ever to put on a glove. I'm just putting on my wild speculation hat.

  14. ROFL...Rosenbloom thinks we overpaid. http://www.chicagotribune.com/videogallery/71102688/Sports/Rosenbloom-Bears-overpaid-Forte Man I wanna punch that guy in the nose. I heard someone on the Score referring to his columns as "must read", and not in a sarcastic way.
  15. I don't know why Soriano would have a stigma, so we're even. Dew addressed it pretty well, so it's ok. Don't stress.
  16. That's perfect.
  17. That isn't too bad. Essentially 2 years guaranteed. Can you take the hit on the guaranteed dollars in the first two years? Or do you have to spread it over the contract?
  18. The guaranteed money will tell the tale.
  19. Apparently this happened on Saturday. No wonder we couldn't get him traded if teams were only interested at the min.
  20. Yep, along with Ray Rice and Wes Welker. Forte's the only one of those 3 expected to have a real possibility of coming to an agreement though.
  21. Apparently, technically, Rex Grossman is Rex Grossman III, and the Redskin coaches are jokingly calling him RG3.
  22. Maybe this got posted somewhere already, seeing as it happened a week ago, but wow.... http://cdn3.sbnation.com/imported_assets/1119967/kerboom2_medium.gif http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/mlb-big-league-stew/texas-thunder-lightning-strike-sends-rangers-twins-scurrying-031552572--mlb.html
