  1. There's all kinds of great Bears gifs out there, but your new favorite is the one where the Bears are getting owned.
  2. 4-7 wins is a big spread. I think a 4 win season means Cutler either got injured again and/or [expletive] the bed, which could effectively end his career in Chicago. I think 7 wins is enough to keep everybody employed as long as the offense looks good. I don't see how it'd end Cutler's career in Chicago. They'd owe him an awful lot of money.
  3. Haha...how apt! http://ftw.usatoday.com/2014/09/rihanna-is-the-opening-act-on-thursday-night-football
  4. Sounds good, renamed that thread and we'll keep that discussion over there.
  5. Should we spin off the Ray Rice/Goodell discussion into its own thread?
  6. I have no idea what this means. That the nfl didn't actually NEED to suspend ray rice at all. They do so for PR purposes and are not compelled to by any agreements or laws. They needed to I guess from a pr standpoint but I'm not aware that their antitrust exemption or tv deals require suspensions for immoral or illegal acts. What a weird stance to take. Of course it's PR. They're in the entertainment business. Players have personal behavior clauses in contracts. This isn't new.
  7. @harveylevintmz We believe we now know the person at the NFL who received the Ray Rice video.
  8. It's one part of it, absolutely.
  9. I mean, obviously. What are you trying to say? Pointing out why someone might make the statement that there was NO outrage. They're creating a clear separation between the types of outcry because calling for rule changes is quite different than a change in leadership. Right or wrong, I think the initial point that was made was that many people are claiming the second video changes nothing but weren't quite ready to call for Goodell to step down until they saw the video. So it must have meant something to the general public opinion because just as the leagues punishment shifted, so too did public opinion. The second video does change something in regards to Goodell though. Before, he just didn't care. Now, he's a liar who doesn't care.
  10. I need this clip! Need.
  11. So then you have no problem with the fact that the NFL only waited until after the video was leaked to impose stiffer punishments? You have no problem that the Ravens waited until after the video leaked to terminate Ray Rice's contract? what? no, of course i'm not ok with their deplorable non-reaction to this. but i'm certainly not going to complain that public outcry forced them to get it right My complaint is that there was no public outcry before Monday's leak. At least not enough to get the NFL to do anything of substance. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/08/28/roger-goodells-letter-to-nfl-owners-on-domestic-violencet/ 2 weeks ago, before the video blew up. This was the result of the first outcry.
  12. And ESPN plops a Jason Whitlock article on the front page saying to stop showing the video. I mean [expletive].

  14. I'm only interested in other teams message boards after wins though, so I can go back and see the misery porn. Just like I don't listen to sports talk radio in the weeks after losses, because UGH.
  15. Grabbed him back on Friday when rumors started. Now I have some people a bit miffed at me. Of course, he'll probably get suspended again for his DWI.
  16. Grabbed him back on Friday when rumors started. Now I have some people a bit miffed at me.
  17. @MikeSielski Amaro: "Misconception" that #Phillies don't use analytics. "First thing out scouts do is look at a stat sheet."
  18. Seems like Briggs is a [expletive] caller (I'm assuming he's the one who calls the play on the field). Didn't the same thing happen with Conte in the GB game where he missed the man to man and played zone? Seems like there are a lot of miscommunication on the defensive side the past 2 years. That seems pretty accurate based on what it looked like to me. Briggs hit the front side gap, forced a cut back, but got knocked down when he could have slid down the line and made a play. So that leaves Bostic and Mundy. Bostic was actually in a gap (got blocked). Mundy was just kinda there. I kinda hope that Briggs is right, and just not covering his ass. Cuz at least Mundy has the excuse of being new, and should have room for improvement as the season progresses. Briggs has no excuse if it was his screw up.
  19. @AdamHoge Per Lance Briggs on his TV show, Ryan Mundy missed a check on the Fred Jackson OT run and was supposed to be in the gap Jackson ran through.
  20. Hard to blame them.

  22. Eh. I didn't like much of what he did. The punt return he had, he just needed to avoid the first guy (who was getting blocked into him) and he had a ton of room to run. Hester would have returned it 20+ yards easy, IMO. Holmes was also blocking on another play that I saw (so was Morgan). Believe it was 2nd or 3rd and long. I don't know what the Bears expect out of him return-wise other than to consistently catch the ball.
  23. Just because I want to say something positive, I did like a lot of what Santonio Holmes did. I know he was run blocking on the play where Cutler threw the pick, but for a guy that joined the team as late as he did, I thought he did pretty well. Good enough to fill a 3rd WR role, anyway...please be healthy Marshall/Jeffrey.
  24. Yeah, that was the highlight for me.
  25. So...I wonder if this would affect baseball? Would this affect blackouts based on region? Or just the "Not a sellout" blackouts? http://www.usatoday.com/story/opinion/2014/09/09/wheeler-fcc-nfl-blackout-rule-obsolete-column/15300147/
