    I know that the Cards aren't playing for anything, but looks like Lackey wasn't very impressive for them today. Their starting pitching sure is a lot less scary than they once were.

    Well I use it as a reference for stats, just don't read the articles. Sure. I don't read them so I wouldn't know. It's not rebellion, it's laziness, mostly. If there is something interesting written on one of those sites, it will make its way here pretty quickly, so I just catch it second hand on NSBB instead of first hand on the other sites So your reasoning for not reading baseball articles is the same reasoning for not reading twitter. Cool.

    They were terrified in 2007, too; it's a Chicago thing. Any of the Bulls playoff games, the Bears playing the Packers to go to the SB, [expletive] even the THIRD [expletive] Stanley Cup the Blackhawks were about to win in 6 years were dominated by timid, relatively quiet Chicago fans who seem convinced everything is going to go wrong. I want them to be going ape [expletive], dammit. This is all dumb and wrong. If there's one thing that Sammy knows a ton about, it's hockey fans, and the Chicago hockey community at large. It's in his blood.

    nevertheless, while i feel the same, i am pleased at what he just did. Is there some sort of statistically plausible reason a nearly 30-year-old is going from a career high of 13 homers as a pro (2010, mostly AA) to 28 in the big leagues? I'm trying to decide how much that should annoy me. People ask similar questions about Arrieta. Baseball is weird.

    Arrieta would have normal rest for Game 3, so I have to think they go to him there. Some sort of Hammel or Hendricks/fill in sixth starter here piggyback situation would be fine with me for Game 2. Oh, I didn't realize that...then yeah, of course.
