  1. Gotta love an owner that refers to the teamas a "major asset".
  2. I don't think it's coincidence that Marshall and Marmol have both been chatting up Maddux and getting some success.
  3. it'll be on ESPN2 and ESPNU again later today. Oh well now I'm torn...do I want to follow it on the computer or not....hmmm...
  4. Go Mavs!
  5. I'm sure someone will have a more definite answer than this, but I'm pretty sure that if you sign a free agent, you can't trade him until sometime in May. Free agents cannot be traded without his permission until June 15th. If a player does not receive a NTC when he signs, he can be traded at anytime after that date. However, any player traded in the middle of a multi-year contract has a right to demand a trade after his first season with the new team. If that request is not granted by the start of spring training, the player becomes an unrestricted free agent and is eligible to sign with any team. May....June...it's all the same... :P
  6. Could you re-word this part? Too many negative opposite thingies. I am not opposed to thinking that not making the playoffs will not save Dusty from not being fired. I confused myself there.
  7. Well I dropped the ball and forgot to record the game today. Dammit.

  9. Bruce, if I've said it once, I've said it a thousand times. The word "kaplooey" is SADLY underused in sportswriting....:D
  10. I'm guessing Marmol gets the shot at starting, and Guzman is long man...just a hunch.
  11. The more amazing part is that somehow we ALL managed to post in just 2 pages. Amazing.
  12. Well everything is constant until it changes...
  13. That could have a couple of connotations depending on how you look at it!!! poojuice. For the sake of the mods, please don't use this one...funny though it may be.... :P
  14. I'll say Pujols shocked him, Gagne slightly shocked him, and Sosa wasn't a surprise.
  15. Seriously, has Hendry made any decent moves being in the seller position in previous years? I can't recall that there have been any good ones. I seem to recall him moving Flash to Houston a few years ago for a couple of Houston A ball pitchers, but I don't believe any of them panned out for us. I suppose there may have been other moves too, but I'm not that confident he'll be able to get the right prospect back in deal right now. the cubs haven't been sellers for a while. iirc hendry's pulled off the best deadline deals the past 3 years. (lawton 05, nomar/murton - 04, aram/lofton -03) unfortunately, lawton forgot how to get on base like he did in pittsburgh. Hendry managed to sell/dump Hundley, but that wasn't at the trade deadline, and not exactly what I think you were driving at.
  16. There's a thread on this in baseball discussions. Since this kinda dealt with more than just Pujols, it seemed most appropriate there.... http://www.northsidebaseball.com/PremiumForum/viewtopic.php?t=32670 viewtopic.php?t=32670
  17. Those are constant? Baker's managed for what...3 1/2 years? Hendry's been GM for about that same time. MacPhail's been in Cubs management for maybe 10 years?? (That's a guess) And the Tribune has owned the Cubs for 25 years or so? So that means out of nearly a hundred years of futility, one or more of those guys have only been involved in a quarter of that maximum....how does that make it constant?
  18. Well yeah, but he's covering his own butt here too.

I had a feeling that it would a be a "no out" outing that would fly under the radar.
  20. Banedon

Wait wait wait....I thought you were supposed to be the funny guy. Not the stats guy. Get back in your box. :P
  21. This is actually being talked about here. http://www.northsidebaseball.com/PremiumForum/viewtopic.php?t=32452 viewtopic.php?t=32452
  22. Define play. Standing on the field waiting for the bounces to go your way.
  23. Heya Hoops! Long time no see! Glad you stopped by. :D
