  1. Ok, I don't get this. First of all, that's a huge assumption to make. Second, you already HAVE a good hitting catcher. Why move Barrett to LF, and get another good hitting catcher? Just get a LF and be done with it.
  2. Why is it that whenever a team needs to make positive changes, there are inevitably a ton of suggestions to move a position player from the position that he's been in most of his career to a position he's never played?

Well we were doing ok last night till we got up to Joliet, and it started raining pretty good. So we decided to skip the game, and head out to Woodfield mall instead since we were up there. I watched the first half of the game and Dave & Busters, and obviously the tackling looks pretty bad. Rivera said on the radio that the preseason games are the first times that they really have guys struggling to not be tackled. In camp, they can't really do that, for fear of injuries. He said by the time the regular season comes along, they should be making their tackles. Every player interviewed mentioned that as the big problem from last night.

Foxsports.com has an article about how Lovie is being underpaid...

I'll be at the game tonight. My first Bears game...I'm pretty excited :D Looks like Grossman will get the entire first half tonight. EDIT: hmmm...maybe we aren't going....looks like a big stormfront is rolling through, and I don't think would be an ideal setting for my pregnant wife to be sitting in all night....damn.
  6. Ahhh...good...I was worried they wouldn't go into this with an open mind... :P
  7. You can't win with rookies, dude. You need seasons veterans, like Neifi out there to guide the boat. We need guys like Izturis out there that can drive in runs with their glove.
  8. How many times has Rogers waffled back and forth on this issue this season? One could argue that there were situations in the 18 inning game where Baker made it harder for the Cubs to win, and they still managed, albeit in 18 innings.
  9. Being better than Roger is an accomplishment, Andy? Not so much. I haven't been watching, but it doesn't look like Andy pitched a bad game.
  10. He was on them back in August of '03. Exactly...I don't think Neyer is a good example of the national media "Catching on"...though I love the article.
  11. Guys, it's really hard to win with rookies pitching.
  12. Neyer has been one of the guys criticizing the Cubs for quite some time. He's been on them about the Perez and Womack signings, and just in general for the same types of things frequently posted about here.
  13. I'm anxious to see his preseason rankings. He obviously can't rank the Bears last, but I'm wondering if he'll do something like rank them behind the Vikings or something.
  14. That's what the 2nd spot in the order is for, dude.

Thomas Jones is practicing today....the last day of camp.
  16. Batting third: Dusty Baker
  17. They have talent. Ok then, MORE talent.
  18. He might have been placed on them, but that doesn't mean that he'll make it through them in order to be traded. If a team selects him off waivers, then they'd be the only team he could be traded to this season.
  19. For me, it's all about Saturday's during the fall. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the NFL. But I like college football a bit more. Most definitely agreed! Not me. NFL Sundays all the way.
  20. So the NFL set is going to be more like college gameday, on location at the site of the game of the week so that Joe can go straight from that job to the playbyplay. NFL pregame shows are just background noice for me on Sundays. They are all awful, offering nothing to the viewer. It's just a combination of butt-kissing interviews, melodramatic sob stories and half-assed analysis. This is the time when I'm prepping the meat for the grill, testing the bloody mary's and checking the keg. NSBB Super Bowl party at goony's place!
  21. Ugh...he's doing both pregame AND play-by-play... http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/5871590

You might've spoke too soon... Looks like Mike Brown hurt his achillies again. It is said to be just a "twinge" (i hate ambiguous injury descriptions), they aren't too sure but they think he'll be back for the openner. Losing Brown in 2004 and late last year hurt big time, hopefully he can get back to 100% quickly. I believe that this year's offseason strategy was partly based on the assumption that Mike Brown is completely unreliable and may be close to done in the NFL, due to health reasons. They've got loads of DBack help now, and can probably withstand losing Brown for at least a few games. If only the Cubs would plan around players whose health is unreliable.
  23. Ugh. Ok so I have 2 questions... 1) Does this mean Joe won't be announcing games? Because I can watch the ESPN or CBS pregame shows, and then not ever have to see Joe, which might make this a good thing. 2) What happened to James Brown? JB moved to CBS I believe. New pregame announcers...new channels...my NFL routine is gonna be all outta whack for the first few weeks of the season...
  24. Everyone is over-reacting. 120 pitches for Zambrano is not a big deal. 120 pitches for Wood is a big deal. This idea of a fixed pitch count ceiling for all pitchers without regard for the specific pitcher is silly. Maybe you're right, maybe you're not. But there's absolutely zero reason to take the chance at the point in a terrible season. None.
