  1. True. Shawne Merriman has to be in the conversation though.
  2. Well I gotta give Dusty some credit for showing up to this thing. I didn't figure that would happen.
  3. YES! *Happy dance* I'm starting the "Dusty for Baseball Tonight BandWGN" right now!
  4. My wife hates that guy...she'll love the name.
  5. Let's not go say things we can't take back. =D>
  6. Hendry needing to polish that resignation letter???
  7. I'm not sure Dusty will be there. You know I hadnt thought of it but it would be a good thing if he wasn't. If you were the Cubs, would you want him around to talk about how the Cubs didn't give him a fair shot...yadda yadda?
  8. This is fantastic news. I'm not entirely sure that you arent being sarcastic, but assuming you're serious, I agree. I would much rather a manager pull starters too early than too late. And it doesnt seem like the Marlins had an incredibly deep bullpen so I dont know how much stock to put into that argument. T_T is very worried about pitcher abuse, so I believe he was being quite serious.
  9. This is fantastic news. Yep...just give him good relief pitchers to bring in.
  10. Sooooo...because Shawn Alexander was out, the Seattle defense sucked?
  11. What would those be? I'm not asking that to disagree, I just dont know much about his in-game strategy. Personally, I fear he might be a little sac bunt happy, and far to willing to give away outs. But maybe that's just because he's the guy Baylor hit in the 2 hole with the specific job of sac bunting whenever possible. It could be guilt by association. I didn't watch enough Marlins games to know, but could some of that just have to do with the personnel that he had, or is it just his managerial philosophy?
  12. Hey guys, I'm stuck at work, and streaming audio is blocked. Can someone give kind of a play by play of the press conference plz? :)
  13. That's cool. But I just don't see where this thinking means it's inappropriate for others to express doubt in the team. I mean you can express doubt, but some of these posters are just ripping into everything and anything right now. One fan posted in transactions that he heard on the radio Macphail resigned. He prefaced it with saying he hadn't seen it posted, but thought it was interesting. The second poster had to make a point or rolling his eyes and being all sarcastic. Why are we all turning on each other and everything cubs related. We had a really bad year. It looks like a lot of the factors that went into that are leaving. Let's enjoy that if only for one day. It's hard to enjoy taking out the trash. Especially if we don't know that it's not just going to get replaced with more trash. That's just my opinion.
  14. Dude give it a rest. Does every post have to be attacking the cubs? Yeah things are bad. But, hey thats why the allow trades and free agents. You really don't understand why there would be skepticism after this season? Yeah I do, but hey we all have said we need to clean house. Well in an hour two of three will be gone. They are at least doing what we all think needs to be done. Sure, it's a start. But if Hendry is still in place, are you really confident the moves that need to be made, will be? I'm not. And I have a hard time blaming those that don't believe that he will.

LMAO. Surpassing expectations isn't anything to tout. we EXPECTED him to royally blow. he was royally average instead. Whoopee!!!! Only two RFers in the NL had a higher OPS than Jacque this year. He was hardly average. But that's okay, go ahead and bash him anyways. *sigh* Jacque isn't bad. His contract is. And this was started by someone stating that "everyone on this board" was wrong about him. Which it's too early to tell if that's the case. That's it.

Are you serious? That's your argument? "Well, if you just throw out a 25+ HR year for only 5M, and add in the fact he *could* suck next year or the one after..." What makes you dislike Jones so much, just because everyone else here does and it's popular? Good job putting words in my mouth. Jones is not likely to perform at this same level over the next two years. This was a career year for him. He's never performed as well as he did this year. He has nowhere to go but down. It's not that he *could* suck next year, it's that his performance is *highly likely* to decline over the next two. It was a bad contract. I don't dislike Jacque. I'm rooting for him to do well, but I think the contract he was signed to was too long, and limits the teams options. That's not Jacque's fault, it's the Cubs fault. It's Hendry's fault. And I do dislike Hendry. Jones in 2002: .300/.341/.511/.852 27 HR 85 RBI Pretty much an identical season. Ok, so he matched his career year. Are you arguing that those 2 are more in line with what his future performance will be than the other 6 seasons?
  18. I feel like we've been in a car wreck this season, and now we're putting on bandages. The process of healing may have begun, but there's still a lot of pain to go through.

  20. I was just discussing this with some of my fellow mods...heh. I doubt it happens, but I'm openly praying for it.
  21. I posted a sticky in that forum, directing to this thread.
  22. Please direct all discussion and reaction to the Dusty decision to this thread: viewtopic.php?t=35738&start=100 http://www.northsidebaseball.com/PremiumForum/viewtopic.php?t=35738&start=100 All threads on the topic outside of this one will be locked, at least for a while.
  23. Hi Len, How about them Bears? :D Andy's gone, we're assuming Dusty will be (and he may be by the time you answer these questions), so does it stand to reason that Jim Hendry is really on the hot-seat at this point?
