  1. I was just about to call you everything but a gentleman..... then I noticed the reverse jinx. Carry on. I'm looking forward to the 49ers game to see what he can come up with.
  2. On the Briggs conversation, I remember a few years back when we were all worried about losing Warrick Holdman and Rosie Colvin, and they proved to be very replaceable. Briggs is very good, and my preference is to keep him. But I'm not going to lose a whole lot of sleep over it if it gets too rich. Also, my prediction, Bears 27 Bills 6.
  3. I'm grateful this would take Piniella off the market, but wouldn't you just LOVE to see Baker mess up that team?
  4. The AP already has a nice A-rod trashing article out. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/playoffs2006/news/story?id=2616957 No mention of trades or anything, but it's certainly implied.
  5. I had a dream that they lost, followed by a dream that they won. Strange but true. 2 night ago I had a dream that we lost too. Bad sign :( Rarely has a dream that I've had come true. Trust me on this. Otherwise I would be living a goooood life.

  7. I agree actually. McNabb has played unbelievable this season. The Eagles are a scary team and I would be worried if the Bears had to face them in the playoffs. Did you guys see that first half against Green Bay though? If they played like that against the Bears, they'd be playing catch up, which would tough. They also couldn't finish against the Giants a few weeks back. We'll see...maybe I'm underestimating them. They're one of the better NFC teams for sure, but that's not saying a whole lot. The AFC is much scarier than the NFC. I have a hard time being scared of just about any NFC team right now, but I'm still on a Bears high.
  8. He's waiting for Bruce Bochy dontcha know?
  9. This came from Foxsports.com, and is very mysterious to me: After watching the first 3 games, even if you're skeptical a bit, don't you have to plan for both Grossman and Berrian?
  10. Wotus? Is that a secret service acronym? Wimp of the United States? :) No flames plz. It was a joke... :P
  11. I'd definitely have the Chargers up higher. They definitely have the talent. I think the poll reflects a lack of faith in Shottenheimer though. I'm not terribly offended about the Cowboys not being up there though. I'm still a skeptic with them.
  12. ESPN poll on the NFL's first quarter: It obviously doesn't mean a lot, but I thought it was fun.
  13. Ok, I know it's not technically a transaction, but there's been discussion in the past about possibly bringing Nomar back, but it still seems like the guy is pretty injury prone. Of course it's also the end of a long season...just thought it was worth consideration. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/playoffs2006/news/story?id=2614939
  14. Bruce, think we'll see either Steve Stone or Mark Grace in the booth if Brenly goes for the SF job? There's been speculation about both those names...
  15. It looks clear to me and makes a lot of sense. I don't like lack of hustle, but if he produces, I can live with it. I'd hate for this offseason's theme to turn into "I decided I like guys who hustle." Then you better hope the World Series doesn't turn on a hustle play. They gotta get there first. I think he was referring to Hendry's tendency to do copy the previous WS winner's approach. Yes. Didn't think I had to spell that out. Considering that the Cubs haven't been to the Series in 61 years. Say that again; 61 years. Wow. That makes a lot more sense then. I completely missed the reference.
  16. Isn't that making a big assumption though? That A-ram and Pierre are waiting for a new manager to see if he makes them hustle, or holds them accountable? Isn't it reasonable that these guys know who their boss is going to be before they sign a commitment to play for a team for X number of years? I know Pierre is one of Dusty's guys, but was A-ram really? Maybe A-ram is looking for a manager that can actually manage? I'm making assumptions, sure, but I think we all are.

I'd hate for this offseason's theme to turn into "I decided I like guys who hustle." Then you better hope the World Series doesn't turn on a hustle play. Um...gotta get to the World Series before that matters. I'd rather have a good player that occasionally may not hustle, than a mediocre player that gives it his all.
  18. It could have been funny in like a little snippet. But not so much as a full article.
  19. No Cabrera trade?
  20. Another note from the Suntimes:
  21. Hey Bruce, you didn't mention when Steve Stone and Mark Grace are getting their interviews???
  22. Hard to blame him for that.
  23. Umm, Steve Phillips? Didn't Bobby Valentine do the same thing? And Larry Bowa?
  24. This is FANTASTIC news. ESPN is comic gold. This is will singlehandedly boost playoff ratings. I, for one, will be watching, when I previously had no intention of doing so!
