  1. I'm not sure if it's luck or what, but Ryan's better at the same philosophy. If the Cubs were a little better over Hendry's regime, they would have had more success. I think a little can go a long way. Of course, it would help if the Cubs could produce Mauer, Morneau, Santana, Garza, etc. Well the Cubs could've had Mauer instead of Prior...:P

  3. How about the notion that he should have been given the CF back at midseason and allowed to work through his "slump" from the get go instead of being in and out of the lineup, and up and down from the minors? Then starting him right now might not be such a terrible notion. Starting him earlier in the season when Jones was terrible would have been ideal. But now that Jacque is hitting a bit, putting Pie in everyday would probably have a detrimental effect. I agree. But Pie in center wouldn't have meant that Jones couldn't still play either...we weren't exactly getting great RF production.

  5. Well I was in and out of the Bears thread on Sunday...so I missed the whole "troll" name calling thing...but looking through the thread from Sunday...that happened on NSBB, not on WCF.
  6. Maybe you can type them up and then one of the Mods can go through and take out all the mean. :P We'd be right back to a blank page though... :D
  7. rule of thumb: if woman is willing to cheat on her husband with you, then she will be willing to cheat on you with another man. Agreed 100%. I'm sorry you got hurt aerosmith...but if you don't start the relationship off in a healthy manner, there's little chance it will end up healthy.
  8. Such a great read: http://www.firejoemorgan.com/2006/08/best-ever.html What a [expletive] douche that writer is, trying to discredit the work LaMacchia does. LaMacchia has forgotten more baseball in a week than the writer, I, or anyone on this board will ever know about the game. Wow...that wasn't the way I read that...not at all. I think the point wasn't whether Lamacchia knew what he was talking about...he clearly does. The point was that Andre Ethier wasn't exactly this obscure prospect hiding in a cornfield somewhere. I really didn't see anywhere that he was criticizing Lamacchia...it was all about the false drama that Bill Plaschke interjected into the article.
  9. Honestly though, that happened when the Bears game threads were here too. I know Andy got pretty maligned in one in particular, and OleMiss catches a lot of Saints flak. And it happens to Card fans being critical of Cub fans in the Cub game threads. We do our best to be diligent with moderating that kind of stuff, but game threads, be it here at NSBB or at WCF, are hyper-emotional places anyway. And I'm sure you already know that. I'm not breaking new ground here. I know that we have great posters that are Cub fans and fans of non-Bear football teams. And I hope you all can get something beneficial out of posting at WCF. It's still a work in progress though, and I hope you'll be patient through the growing pains. All I can promise as a moderator is that when we see something inappropriate, we'll try to take care of it. We won't always be successful at it. And I think game threads here at NSBB and at WCF are always going to be a challenge to moderate. Finally, if you think something is inappropriate over there, use the "report this post" option. It'll help the mods. EDIT: Unfortunately I'm going to be at the Cubs-Cards game on Sunday and will not be around for the Bears-Chiefs game thread. So I won't be able to help much then.
  10. He's like Wolverine. Oooh...he should get claws!
  11. I understand your point of view on this...but I guess it's the same reason that people like Jake or wolf stannson or other fans of other teams talk baseball here. The idea is that the other board becomes a great place for more in-depth football discussion. Seperate theads for seperate topics. More organization than a generic "Other NFL Teams" thread in social can provide. I realize that because of the low traffic at the moment, it probably seems unnecessary. But NSBB had low traffic initially as well, and the idea is to grow the site. Yes, it is a Bears board, but we'd really like to have open discussion from fans of other teams as well. I hope as the site grows, you guys will see more benefit to having discussions there rather than here...
  12. It's a good thing Soto and Murton have the day off. Kendall, Floyd and Jones have the experience to win in a pennant race.
  13. Incredible. Pessimistic in the TOP OF THE FIRST when we score FIRST. Wow! i do my best work early in the game And it's the bottom of the first.
  14. I was going to say this too...surprised it took so much longer for his name to be mentioned than Prior's.
  15. My wife and I have been married for 3 years. We were engaged for a year. We lived together for 2-3 years before that. Not a ton of surprises when we got married.
  16. Paul Sullivan??? :-k

  19. A sprained knee is what they're calling it until they get MRI's and the like...then the bad news will come. EDIT: FWIW, I posted this at WCF also. The post review has been turned off for the game thread forum.
  20. I hope we see these guys in the Super Bowl.
  21. LOL...everybody ragging on Grossman in the ESPN gameday chat. Ridiculous.
  22. And they're going to cover the spread...that makes me almost as mad as the loss.
  23. I love the way Mike Brown plays, but he's just not reliable injury wise.
