  1. Or we can stop splitting hairs and not call anything stupid, and instead use a logical argument to explain why something is incorrect. The whole point is that it's easy to phrase a discussion in a way that doesn't antagonize.
  2. I'd venture to guess that he wasn't there to look at the on-field product. He can watch TV and see that. Assuming he stayed until the end of the game, it can't hurt for him to have been there and felt the electricity in the park. Absolutely. I hope he did.
  3. I wanted Bobby Valentine... I still kinda do.
  4. I'd venture to guess that he wasn't there to look at the on-field product. He can watch TV and see that.
  5. I see no Murton and no Soto and all I can do is just shake my head. 4-5? You SIT!
  6. Wholeheartedly agreed. I still remember that WC playoff game in 1998 when they played the recording of Harry. It was the most eerie and yet touching stretch I've ever heard.
  7. I dunno...Kendall just gushed about coming to the Cubs...he might relish the role of backup catcher/mentor if it means staying somewhere that he enjoys. There seem to be awful lot of guys that stay on this team for less than they could otherwise get. (Ramirez, Lee, Wood, Todd Walker)
  8. What is his OBP w/out July? Picking and choosing doesn't accomplish anything. He's a MI utility player starting at SS b/c he has been the best option on a team with no starting SS. Good hands, poor arm, below avg. range for a SS. Avg. to slightly below avg at SS defensively to above avg. defensively for a 2B which requires less range and less arm strength. If they had the funds or the expendable players to improve SS, I wouldn't let Theriot prevent them from upgrading. I question whether they do. Ok, what is his OBP without July and September? See my previous post.
  9. That could be very well it. Nope...from Len and Bob's blog: Of course they could easily replace Ron if Mark wanted to do it. Ron's sang a few times this summer.
  10. What's his OBP if you take out July? How about we split the difference...lets take out the best and worst month. If I did my math right (and someone can check me on this) I got .316. EDIT: Quit stealing my good lines, Ping...
  11. I'm confused though...how has he solidified the #2 spot when he's not been hitting well enough to stay there lately. He's batted #8 an awful lot lately while guys like Derosa and Jones have gotten to bat #2. That doesn't seem too "solidified". Kenny Lofton provided a pretty good spark at the top of the order.
  12. I think if it's an offensive player that does it, it counts toward his offensive stats too. If not, I think I'm going to feel kind of dumb. :? I'm almost positive kick returns would go to him since they're not credited to any other part of the team. Also, he's only my second running back behind Rudi Johnson, so I can live with him getting fewer points. I know that our league specifically allows for return yardage. Lots of Bears fans in my league, and I think this change was made so someone could draft Hester...lol.
  13. Briefly off topic: I admit that I took Bush in the 1st round, but I had like the 10th or 11th pick. I made up for it by picking Randy Moss in like the 4th or 5th round. Ok...back to the thread at hand.
  14. That goes with any young player that comes up and does well.
  15. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v421/Banedon/Schedule.jpg http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/ One day trip to KC on Thursday.
  16. now that's an excellent point. Hold the field hostage. This is where I fear that this whole deal is going to get a little nuts, and the chaos could trickle down to the team. If the field's being held hostage, or the Trib continues to wait out for the highest bidder and gets into a stalemate with MLB, I'm afraid the team won't be allowed access to the resources it might need to put the most competitive team on the field. Of course that may force the hand of Jim and Lou and force them to go young...hmmm.
  17. You know, Ward's been ok I guess, but he's no Mabry.
  18. Well we have a minor league hockey team that's getting very good support even though we're close to the Rivermen in Peoria. Normal may be built around those colleges, but Bloomington is built around State Farm. There's a lot of people with too much money on their hands and not enough entertainment in town. I'm guessing there would be plenty of attendance.
  19. Mike Fetters. http://the.honoluluadvertiser.com/dailypix/2004/Jun/23/sports13_b.jpg
  20. http://www.pantagraph.com/articles/2007/09/14/news/doc46e9c0ae9bcae290172150.txt The article says the league would be privately owned, but I think they mean that team would be privately owned...I've emailed the reporter for clarification about that...
  21. No update on Alex Gonzalez??? I think where the Harris/Theriot comparison falls apart a bit is BB/K ratio. Harris's is ugly while Theriot's is almost flatfooted even.
  22. Bears theads though WILL be over there. Here's the link to the "Other games thread" at WCF though... http://www.windycityfootball.com/Forum/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=240
  23. I've be there as well. Pretty sure it's Mulder vs Marquis. My first time there too, so I can't really give you much info as far as the rest of that goes.
  24. I'm not sure if it's luck or what, but Ryan's better at the same philosophy. If the Cubs were a little better over Hendry's regime, they would have had more success. I think a little can go a long way. Of course, it would help if the Cubs could produce Mauer, Morneau, Santana, Garza, etc. Well the Cubs could've had Mauer instead of Prior...:P How? Uh..yeah nevermind...I was thinking the Cubs had passed on Mauer for Prior...it was the Twins passing on Prior for Mauer, wasn't it?
