    You're right. People booed because they all hate Bob Uecker and think he's the devil. It had nothing to do with the fans wanting to uphold a tradition and think it's wrong for a competing team's broadcaster to sing the stretch. You mean it was wrong for Vin Scully and Jack Buck to sing it as well? They should expect to get booed if they do.

    I agree, but I don't think having Uek sing the stretch is same thing as say having Mike Krukow sing the stretch. Uek transcends the booth and is a beloved personality well beyond it, particulalry to people who grew up during the 80's and feel that Major League is one of the three greatest sports movies ever made (like me). Don't boo Uek because he was funny in Major League? Look I know he's a good guy, and he's very fun to listen to, and he's one of the great announcers in the game. But I don't care what great guy is up there...if he's singing the 7th inning stretch and shouting another teams name, he deserves what he gets. He knew what was coming, I promise you that. Booing opposing teams and their representatives is a part of sports. I don't have a problem with it, and I don't think it's representative of a lack of class.

    Lee worries me more than Ramirez. Ramirez is playing through a couple of injuries, and admits he's not 100%. Lee though has had his spurts, but he just hasn't had the consistent power since his wrist injury. I'm concerned it's going to have a more long term effect.

    I think it's silly to have other broadcasters sing the 7th inning stretch. Of course that's going to be the reaction...especially when the game means something. Short of eliminating the guest conductors, they should at the very least not allow opposing team representatives to sing the stretch. Let them throw out a first pitch or something like that.

    Hope you made it over last night - it was a great night for baseball and the Chiefs looked as good last night as I've seen them in a while! I was there...but having a 9month old there didn't exactly make for paying as much attention to the game as I normally would like. I'm stunned we didn't get wet though. Pretty much the entire rest of the state got rained on.

    Yes, and deals without waivers can be made October 1st, so they will complete the deal between the 1st and the 15th. Gotcha. Didn't realize that...thanks.

    Detroit is speculating that it's Rapada. "Leyland stopped short of disclosing the traded player, but speculation is centered on Clay Rapada, who is 6-2 with a 3.74 ERA at Triple-A Iowa." link Rapada is on the 40-man, which means he'd have to clear waivers to be traded. Pretty doubtful that a cheap lefty reliever with decent numbers makes it through waivers. Which is why they made it a PTBNL deal so that they could trade them Rapada after the year. Personally, if it's a Cubs left-hander currently on the 40 man roster like Leyland said, then I don't really care if it is Eyre, Ohman, Cotts, or Rapada. They each have a small bit of value, but none of them have particularly great value now or in the future. The PTBNL has to go to Detroit by Oct 15th though.

    Slightly off topic, but I'll be at tomorrow night's Chiefs game. It'll be my son's first baseball game. He'll probably sleep through the vast majority of it. :D

    And he will start Thursday...bye bye Al Alburquerque! I also irrationally hate certain 21-year old Dominican kids on the basis of 11 appearances. Theres never any hatred. But he gave us no chance to win and get in the playoffs and thats what we are playing for. He was way overmatched at this level and always "hurt" The only thing they are playing for is possibly developing into future major league baseball players. Getting Peoria to the playoffs is pretty meaningless. Your post makes no sense at all. You can't possibly believe that minor league players don't want to win, and make it to the playoffs at every level? This conversation has nothing to do with what the players want. It's about the organization and whether they're more interested in developing players or making the playoffs in the minors. And even if we were talking about the players, I can't imagine a single one of them that wouldn't rather make the big leagues than play in the minor league playoffs.
