  1. Not that he's exactly hurting for it. :P But still...great line from him.
  2. I think re-signing threads are a little slower than new player threads. Not as much information to dicuss other than money, and frankly some people, I think, would rather talk baseball than dollars. And we all know Z and how he plays...nothing new to discuss there.
  3. I wish some from Jeran's gallery were bigger so I wouldn't have to stretch them for wallpaper.
  4. What a great gallery...I didn't realize he made one for each game. I'd only seen the Cardinal and Giants ones.
  5. I didn't see that on there. It's about the 6th post down in the Z thread.
  6. I think it was GatewayRedbirds.com that I just read this on (I've been to a lot of sites in the past few minutes)... The Cubs will be the second team in history to have 2 players making more than $18million on average...Sori and Z. Is that right? I assume the Yanks have to be the other team, right?
  7. Compared to the pitching market? Hardly. Z would have gotten 7 years, 130 million+ out there. Props to BleacherBadger for bringing us this news last night! Probably true which makes the market completely out of whack. No A-Rod now fellas I'm not ruling that out...the new owner might want to make a splash. Though I admit the likelihood is less.
  8. Hmm...I wonder when talks started again? If he was pitching bad because of negotiations at the beginning of the year...and then was great when it was off his mind...and lately he's pitching bad again...I wonder if this will relax him again?
  9. Ok, I know this is mean...but I just have to do it... He's gone. Hendry screwed this up, like he does everything else. No he isn't. He wants to stay with the Cubs and SOMEHOW they'll get it done.Sure, except he isn't going to wait until our sale gets sorted out. We had our window and we blew it.
  10. He's gone. Hendry screwed this up, like he does everything else. Like re-signing Aramis? Or D-Lee? Or Kerry? Hendry has his faults, but he gets the players he wants re-signed. I realize this is a different situation with the impending sale, but I still think it gets done. Both sides want it to happen.
  11. Didn't everyone think Z was injured at the beginning of the season when he was stuggling? And then he "started his season over" and won a ton of games and was practically unhittable...and then now that he's struggling again, we think he's injured? Are we supposed to think this anytime that he's slumping?
  12. What a bad idea. An 18 year old kid who just signed and clearly hasn't been prepped for dealing with the media. That was absolutely hard to listen to. Bad move Cubs. Good luck to Josh in the future... Sure, he sounds like he could be borderline autistic, but its a shame its not possible to send Cedeno or Pie to AAA and get the kid in uniform by the end of the game. You'd want to send him back to the minors by the end of the next game though.
  13. Yes, i've watched the games and they are throwing better lately. However with Weeks back up and Braun showing his true defense at 3B the teams defense is going down the tubes. Their FIP is better than the Cubs on the year but they have the 2nd worst fielding stats in the NL and thats the root cause of the teams struggles. Plus/Minus suggests the Cubs have made 67 more close plays than the Brewers, thats a huge number! Hey now...I know what FIP means to Wisconsin folks.... :P Isn't that FIB? I've heard both used, with the P in FIP being princess. I've heard it as People, but I suppose there are probably a number of varieties of the term...

  16. lol...thanks for proving my point.... :D
  17. Because tons of people bet on the Cubs so when the Cubs finally win they can look like geniuses. But because it's such a popular bet, the odds are high. So essentially those "odds" say more about the betting habits of gamblers than it does about the likely hood of actually winning.
  18. This thread has long since gone off topic...I think all the reasonable discussion that can be had on the topic, has been had.

  20. Come on guys...no personal insults please.
  21. and 1-2 months later, the best poster tournament is practically forgotten about and not discussed, and no one really cared while it was happening. a hall of fame won't be forgotten though, it's a bad idea. there's a difference. Generally I agree, except that I do see a few mentions of Vance being the "top poster"...
  22. I hope this gets as much media play as the Podsednik thing did.
  23. The moderators already get plenty of accusations of being biased based on post count. This would just be another source of consternation.
  24. I can't believe the play this is getting in the media.
