  1. FC to third...too slowly hit for a play at the plate or DP?
  2. It's a religious thing, much in the same vein of the people that have protested Arizona State and Duke to drop the "Devil" from their team nicknames. Doesn't that seem a little.... creepy to anyone else? There's nothing wrong with the word "devil" especially when describing a breed of ray. You'd think they were the Tampa Bay Satanists or something. The Minnesota Timberwolves dropped the "Timber" off their name too. I imagine it's just easier to market shorter names. The Diamondbacks shortened it to D-Backs on most marketing material.
  3. I understand it's really not my place to be calling him out, but honestly, the whole "I'm so much smarter than you, trust me, I'll tell you" game is getting really annoying. Why can't you just post like an average person? Insecurity will do that to a person roast. You realize both of you have insulted him, while he hasn't insulted anyone. You can both put him on ignore if you don't like his posts, or you can complain to the mods about him. But these posts are unnecessary and against board guidelines.
  4. Looking at the loss column tells you who's winning if both teams win out.
  5. http://sports.aol.com/fanhouse/2007/09/19/mark-cuban-in-wrigley-field-bleachers-a-first-hand-account/ http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/sports.aol.com/fanhouse/media/2007/09/mark-cuban-sign-425.jpg
  6. Cocaine's a hell of a drug. nice post. Anything to back up that claim? Or do you just like slandering people? Pretty sure he was just giving UM a hard time...saying he was smoking (or snorthing) a little something...I don't think any harm was intended by it.
  7. If you're like me, you've been wanting Dunn for a long time. I'm guessing the odds of his coming here voluntarily are negatively impacted by this. Id just assume not have another guy whose going to strike out every other at bat. Please tell me more. The "Adam Dunn strikes out a lot" discussion has been woefully under-argued on this board.
  8. The original question stipulated there were two outs. I don't think that changes the outcome, just the reasoning. Fair enough...the man on base is still a potential out though no matter how many outs there are. If you have the choice of him scoring, or leaving him out there...why take the risk of him getting out on a pickoff or some other baserunning gaffe?
  9. A) Bases loaded in the ninth...down 5-0...nobody out...batter doubles in 3...5-3...batter lines out to the second baseman who's momentum is taking him towards the bag...double play...batter is now up with 2 outs and nobody on...2 runs down...batter can't even tie the game with a homer. (Admittedly the DP is unlikely, but the fact is that there is that the man on base is a possibility for an out somewhere along the way...pickoff...play at home...rundown...) B) Bases loaded in the ninth...down 5-0...nobody out...batter hits a grand slam...5-4...the next batter can tie the game with a homer, or just get a hit because there is nobody out and batters behind him he can allow to drive him in...there's no possibility of anyone other than the batter making an out at this point...the pitcher has just allowed 4 runs without recording an out..no reason to think you can't get 1 more in 3 outs. B please.
  10. He's much much better than Ronny Woo Woo. It seems like he only attends night games though. I haven't seen him at the day games.
  11. Riggleman would be just about the only other manager I would put in the discussion.
  12. Joe Paterno
  13. Since not everyone goes to WCF... Tank Johnson signs with Dallas
  14. I'd say he's more the new Murton/Dubois/Choi than anything else. The 3 names you mentioned aren't even on the Cubs team.
  15. Well, you're about as much fun as root canal work, eh? I have to go get a wisdom tooth pulled tomorrow, so that hits a little too close to home...:P
  16. You beat me to that one sweetpete...:P
  17. I admit that I might have read it wrong...and that he may have meant longer ago than he implied...fair enough. But Soto got more attention that just from NSBB. He was mentioned regularly in the farm club updates that WGN and Comcast did during the Cubs games this year. I'm just still miffed that Koyie Hill and Bowen both got so much of a chance but Soto hasn't (until now) and now, while hitting in the .400's, is still a question mark for regular playing time down the stretch.
  18. The vast majority of that stuff is copyrighted.
  19. I didn't mean that as literally as I made it sound. And if he meant before the season, fine. That wasn't the way I read it...
  20. LOL...yeah all you guys that weren't mentioning Soto's name a few months ago...sheesh... Well, it depends on how many months ago. There weren't that many people talking about Soto in March or April. I mean, people wanted him as the backup catcher, but nobody thought he was any good. Well we were certainly talking about him before the Kendall deal...and the Bowen deal...
  21. I posted this in the Soto thread in baseball discussions, but since you mentioned it here... It almost sounds like Hendry didn't know Soto existed until after the Kendall trade.
  22. You guys ought to just LOVE this one...this is Hendry on the Kendall or Soto "dilemma"... LOL...yeah all you guys that weren't mentioning Soto's name a few months ago...sheesh...
  23. I don't understand. Don't young pitchers have to go up to the majors and then down the minors about 7 times or so before they can even possibly be considered for regular major league work? That's not a rule?
  24. I'm going to bail on this next year. It's looking potentially like I might have a new job coming up here soon, and it will keep me a good deal busier than this one. I've got a decent enough team that someone should be ok taking it over though.
