All the Kendall-Soto drama was just Lou's way of making everyone so grateful that they wouldn't mind Murton not playing. I think Lou is very fearful of Murton's defense.

I'm not going to turn this into semantics. No other catcher in baseball is even close when it comes to giving up SB, especially Kendall's performance as a Cub. He gets run on the most often, he throws out the fewest, and it's because everyone knows he simply doesn't have the arm to do it any more. To ignore the very tangible effect that will have over Soto, who's done everything you could possibly ask out of a catcher, is insanity. Bonus fun fact: Kendall's also in the bottom 5 in passed balls. Nice laydown. That isn't "semantics", but a gross exaggeration. Did you see the stat I posted? 110 SB allowed. No other catcher in baseball is close.

Don't be ridiculous. That may be the worst exaggeration on this board all week. I will apologize if someone can produce the stat which backs this up. You don't make your case very well when you make silly statements like this. Combined with Oakland and the Cubs this year, he has allowed a league leading (and staggering!) 110 stolen bases. Let me use a different analogy. George Bush is President of the US. Does that make him an expert in politics? Does that mean I should question the decisions he makes in leading the country? Please note, I'm not trying to start a political debate here. You can put any of the previous Presidents in there if it makes you feel better. I'm simply using the POTUS analogy here.

And Lou has been riding the hot hand based on small sample sizes all season long. Even if Soto's just on a hot streak, and next season will just revert to being a crappy minor league catcher, why not ride out the hot streak? There's just no argument for this move that makes any sense. There isn't anything that Kendall does better than Soto. Other than be old. If a doctor gives me a diagnosis, even if he knows more than me about the field, that doesn't mean I can't go and educate myself about what he's told me, and determine if I agree with what he said. The fact is that you're taking what Lou believes at face value without any kind of discrimination. That's blind faith. If I didn't do a critical analysis of advice that one of them gave me, I feel like I'd be making a mistake then.

Pujols is one the best baseball players in recent baseball history too. But sometimes he strikes out, and sometimes he make an error. I will let Pujols go to bat for me anytime and gladly accept the results. I genuinely don't understand how you can look at the numbers that I posted, and dismiss them out of hand because of a blind faith in Lou. Sincerely, I don't understand it.

But that's the point. He hasn't played well since he got here. I just listed the stats. He's on the downside of his career...so what he did back when he could play decently has no bearing on the next 3 games. And it's not close.

His career means nothing about how he will play in the next 3 games. Since coming to the Cubs he's hitting .275/.366/.365 and has a .089 caught stealing percentage. Geovany Soto is hitting .378/.431/.507 with a .286 caught stealing percentage. Where exactly has Kendall earned his spot over Soto? Lou always talks about playing the hot hand, and then he goes and completely betrays that philosophy.

Hmm...I don't know how much credit should go to Lou here. I'm sure he has a lot of input on which minor leaguers to bring up, and the Cubs didn't want anything to do with Soto most of the year, instead preferring to trade for Kendall and give Koyie Hill far too much PT. Soto got called up because he was the league MVP, and he's playing everyday because even Lou can't sit a guy that's hitting near .500 and hitting just about everything that's thrown his way. I'll give Lou credit for a lot of things, but I think Soto forced this with his performance. Hahaha...so after all this credit was given to Lou, now we go back to Kendall. That IS how players earn a spot---by their performance. ^^scratches head^^ Like Kendall has?

Sure but all sports have bad divisions that boost the record of other teams. Heck the main three have bad CONFERENCES...the NFC, NL, and Eastern Conference are all bad, and so the "good" teams in those conferences have a natural advantage. My problem is more that there isn't an even schedule for teams in the same division. Part of that is a function of interleague. Part of it is a 6 team division. In any case, it's a pet peeve that I'd like to see fixed. -
