  1. Not for Manziel, they aren't. Those are average stats for him. He had 6 TD's against La Tech & SMU, 5 against Auburn & Missouri, and 4 against Arkansas. He had 500+ yards against Arkansas & La Tech and 400+ yards against SMU, Mississippi State, and Missouri.
  2. Manziel is a great football player and he'll win the Heisman, but he played 3 good defenses and wasn't any good in 2 of the games (yes, Old Style, I know the picks weren't his fault). Apart from those 3 teams, A&M's schedule was pretty crappy, including 2 FCS teams against whom he rang up gigantic numbers. There'd be more of an argument against his candidacy if any other offensive player on a good team had had a big-time season. He had bad 2nd halves against Florida & LSU, but he played quite well in the first half of each of those games. And you need to check the stats on the FCS games. He only played a half in each of those games, so his stats were not inflated. His biggest games were in the shootout against La Tech when we were missing 4 defensive starters (3 in the secondary) and at Ole Miss when a ton of turnovers forced us to mount a big comeback to win the game. In fact, against South Carolina State Johnny ran for 78 yards and passed for 174 yards. Those are close to the numbers he put up against the Gators. He did have 5 total TD's against SCSU, though. Against Sam Houston State he ran for 100 and threw for 267. Those are hardly stat padding numbers.
  3. Well, my fears have been realized. Got a postcard today saying my number has been called. Was really hoping it'd be at least another year or two before this day came. Can't afford it now without finding others to go in with me. Plus living in Texas will mean that I'll probably be looking to sell 75+ games.
  4. Karl Malone be mad.
  5. A little piece of me will still be worried until they call Manziel's name Saturday night.
  6. That's not why I was laughing at A&M No one really gives a [expletive] about you so it doesn't matter why you were laughing.
  7. I'm not sure what's weird and bitter about not wanting to be controlled by our big brothers in Austin. They controlled everything about that conference and still do. In fact, A&M would not be in the Cotton Bowl had OU gone to the BCS and Texas ended up in Jerryworld. They worked hard behind the scenes to make sure they would not have to play us in the CB and from what I can gather it would have worked. Being out from underneath their thumb is a glorious thing. We can now offer recruits something they cannot. Sure Misssouri's scenario is not exactly the same as ours but they should be able to use the lure of the SEC to draw better talent. We were doing so before we had on the field success this season. There is only one school that has a say in that conference.
  8. You bring this up frequently. I don't get it. He seems like a pretty common football junkie to me. Certainly not a Rhodes scholar but guy can coach some football. I meant any job, not necessarily a football job. I used to hang out with him back in the day, and he was dumber than a bag of hammers. Who carries hammers in a bag? That is dumb.
  9. I'm saying it CAN be a good move for them if they play their cards right. Even before this season our recruiting had already started on a nice upswing just by moving to the SEC. It's really starting to go through the roof now with the success we had in year 1. But I can't fault them for jumping off that disease infested sinking ship of a conference when they had a chance.
  10. Very good DC at A&M under Sherman without a ton of talent. Did an amazing job turning Von Miller from a good player to a great one. Coached us in our bowl win over Northwestern last year after Sherman was canned. Hated to see him go, but I'm happy he's had a good year at Fresno State. A lot of people laughed at A&M moving into the SEC West, too. Seems to be working out OK for us so far.
  11. Nice seats!
  12. They pointed out on Mike and Mike today that 3 of our losses have come to Aaron Rodgers, Colin Kapernick and Russell Wilson, all who can scramble and make plays with their feet. I guess less so Rodgers, but the other 2 definitely gave us fits running the ball. The frustrating thing about that is that we used to be really good against those kinds of QB's. I think those kinds of QB's is when we really miss the old Brian Urlacher. Absolutely.
  13. I agreed with the decision to go for it on 4th early in the game instead of kicking the FG. Surprised Lovie made that call, though. The Bennett dropped TD pass (although I wasn't too pissed as it happened as I expected Scott to get hit with what looked like an obvious hold as he dragged a defender to the ground right in front of the official) and especially the Major Wright dropped INT really killed us. The Wright play would have ended the game. As good as our D is, we just can't seem to stop the young mobile QB's that like to run outside.
  14. That would be a horrible travesty. 8 is perfect.
  15. Texas A&M vs. Oklahoma in the Cotton Bowl. Not really excited about the location but it should be a good matchup.
  16. Beaten again by a rookie QB. Embarrassing.
  17. Terrible. Just terrible.
  18. Are there stats to back up that "best defense in the country" claim?
  19. I'd give about a 0.01% chance that they are unranked after the new polls come out.
  20. It looked like he was motioning to the sidelines asking if he should spike it. I blame the coaches.
  21. Do the Stanford & UCLA fans know that the game is tonight? That stadium looks to be less than half full.
  22. Clay Travis thinks the AD didn't want Gruden. http://outkickthecoverage.com/all-that-and-a-bag-of-mail-jon-gruden-rumors-hit-overload-edition.php
  23. Our President was a GM at 28. Same with Jon Daniels... Just a little perspective. Obama was a GM at 28? Wow, I had no idea.
  24. I used to love Sammy. He was so much fun to watch. But he cheated to put up the numbers that have him in this discussion. I don't hate the guy, but I don't see how deserves to be in the HOF.
  25. Damn, 25?
