  1. Hey now... BK Kim has feelings too.... :(
  2. to be fair, his ERA is under 4.00 again after today, but yeah, he's not exactly a world champion 3rd starter Well to be even more fair, he's never been asked to be a No. 3 starter. He's been a pretty good number 5 guy IMO. Some days he gets rocked, some days he's OK, some days like today he's really good. Take a look at most teams fifth starter, not too many have an ERA under 4. Again, I'm not betting anything on any of his starts, but for a fifth starter he's been pretty good. how many teams have their 5 starter locked up for 3 years/21 mil it's sad to say but that will be the norm really soon for a fifth starter. Contracts are getting really out of control. e.g. Meche 11M per year Problem is, Meche has earned his 11M for this year, without a doubt. Meche earned his 11M (v. 7M Marquis salary), but Marquis hasn't? Meche: ERA: 3.69 WHIP: 1.32 Marquis: ERA: 3.92 WHIP: 1.27 I won't mention Wins and Losses because they aren't really relevant.

  5. 20-5 has a nice ring to it, don't you think cubs? Linecum has it wrapped up in Milwaukee, cubs dominate, 1.5 games back....everybody goes home happy, gets drunk and then plays NCAA Football 08.
  6. Isn't Matt Stairs more less the white version of Darryle Ward? count me in....so long as he comes cheaply.
  7. all things considered, i'd rather have jones in center than roberts. if jones regresses to his first half form, call up pie.
  8. Whoa? You said that about 20 seconds before it actually happened on my television. Weird. are you watching it through a cable box? It's not normally a 20 sec. delay, but a short delay.
  9. I'd like the cubs to take a look at Byrnes for one of the corner spots next year. I love watching him play.
  10. one more off topic question: has anyone actually known someone who has won the "how far did it fly" thing? It has to be on it's 15th year by now and they make it sound like they give a free flight for every home run the cubs hit.
  11. Fred's comp. might jam up because he's probably sang it 10,000 times.
  12. I talked to a friend that said it was even better than past years, so i went out and bought it last night. that was my other question about the recruiting though. i had heard that they changed it up and added more features to it and i didn't want it to get too tedious, good to hear people like it though. I posted the lineup a few pages back.
  13. Tomy, I bought it last night but haven't gotten around to playing it. Planning on starting a dynasty tonight or tomorrow though. Probably with my alma matter of East Carolina, they could use all the help they can get.
  14. there's the bright side i've been searching for 8-) Fontenot swells up with pride after finding out he's hitting third, then makes lou look like a genius as he drives in four. recap reads: Mike Fontenot pulls a Koyie Hill. cubs win, everybody goes home happy and then gets drunk and plays NCAA Football 08.
  15. seconded. give it at least a week to straighten itself out.
  16. hahaha, that lineup and marquis v. webb. you never know, thats why they don't play the games on paper. but the cubs definitely don't have their horses today dude.
  17. given that futile lineup.... cubs win decidedly 7-2.
  18. Lineup as reported on ESPN1000: Soriano Theriot Fontenot Ramirez Jones Pagan Moore Kendall Marquis
  19. Mike Fontenot batting third. Lineup: soriano theriot fontenote ramirez jones pagan moore kendall marquis
  20. they are having a "name the cubs 3rd hitter in today's lineup" contest and they said it's surprising. If they already have the lineup, why don't they just release it?
  21. haha, those were my thoughts exactly when i looked up his stats.
  22. Just heard on ESPN1000 that as advertised, dempster activated and gallagher down.
  23. DeRo is scheduled to be off today. We'll se how it plays out for the rest of DLee's suspension. Well he did say that 1B was his least comfortable position, not sure how much should be read into that.
  24. This auditioning for a trade concept is a bit of a reach in my opinion. Professional scouts know what they're looking for in a player and they're not going to get too caught up in a week-10 day audition for a player in the majors. What if Moore or Fox get really hot for a week--does this mean they're now a big time prospect? I don't believe it happens this way. There's also the potential factor, which scouts see in a player like Pie. Yes, his first test was not a success, but it likely only made a small hit on his rating as a prospect. He's still considered the top offensive prospect in the Cubs system. Not to mention the fact the Cubs are currently in a pennant race. As much as I like to see guys improve their trade value, I would certainly hope that winning baseball games is the main factor used in determining who gets the call. Well maybe it is a bit of a reach and pro scouts know these guys and what they think they can do. But if they can fill in nicely on spot duty/bench for a little bit(through injuries), it certainly can't hurt their trade value that the club thought enough of them to call them up. I don't know, just throwing a few thoughts out there.
