  1. I suppose you are right. I didn't really think about it financially and instead just assumed this would be the upgrade needed to our offense. If it frees up some cash for a bigger move, I'd be all for it.
  2. There's also a bunch of hoopla today about the nats wanting dunn and their main selling point is that he can play with his best pal austin. But I don't really know how much validity is in any of that. If he were really cheap and the cubs couldn't acquire dunn or griffey I guess he'd be OK.
  3. From "The Mill" on baseballprospectus.com http://www.baseballprospectus.com/article.php?articleid=6485 "Several teams mention that the Cubs seem to be hanging around the periphery of most talks, trying to figure out ways to make the deals they want without taking on any money. One possibility that I heard was moving Jacque Jones and a prospect for Jeff Conine." Jones AND a prospect? I wouldn't want Conine for just Jones OR a prospect. I wouldn't want him at all! He's 41 and hitting terrible this year. If this is Jim's answer to the RF situation, then he has officially lost his mind. Not to mention that he's only played 1 game at RF this year and the rest at 1B.
  4. I can't remember, but I think they were talking "first ballot." They probably are right, but they are lapdogs nonetheless. They need to stop showing Kruk on those Nutrisystem commercials. He's gained all the weight back, and then some... http://www.weightloss-plan-review.com/images/career-story4_1.jpg
  5. I'd be fine with either of those trades. They seem pretty fair to me, but I have my doubts that would be enough to get either trade done.
  6. Who's the player in your avatar? I don' think I have ever seen him before.
  7. ramirez swings at a ball 14 inches off the plate
  8. I guess a fake rally is at least the slightest sign of an offense.
  9. does jones ever hit a fly ball? he must swing the bat like an axe.
  10. oh well, thats where we were to begin this series. This one will be tough, but i'll take a 7-3 homestand.
  11. cubs as a collective team have warning track power.
  12. game over. at least the cubs can see what a HR looks like.
  13. ask and you shall recieve. too bad marshall will end this inning.
  14. this ump is terrible. the strike zone varies by inning.
  15. Giants score twice in the top of the fifth. 4-3 Brewers
  16. Nice quick inning for Marshall. 68 pitches through 4. Hopefully he's got two more innings left in him.
  17. UHHH! If he doesn't fall off the mound after his pitch that one is through to center!
  18. MUCH bigger strike zone for the d backs IMO
