  1. 21 is my lucky number and my post count will be 2121 for the start of this one. Don't worry guys, this one's in the bag.
  2. Optimism from a Brewers fan? Thanks! We just saw Cain, he won't fool us again. Cubs win 8-6.
  3. quick unrelated question: Did Edmonds win player of the month for June? He posted a 1.086 OPS, who could have beat that?
  4. I wonder if Cardinal and Brewers fans complain about Theriot like we complain about Ludwick, etc.
  5. THERIOT!!! singles up the middle, 3-1 Cubs!
  6. Fontenot is not half as bad as people often make him out to be
  7. Aramis sticking with the high socks, I like
  8. yeah, looked to curve around the plate IMO
  9. I keep reading about going to the local bar for games I can't see at home. Am I missing something? Why does a bar get games that I don't? No. There will be no local bars showing it either. People outside the Chicago area are screwed when it comes to Saturday baseball and the Cubs. Really? I've watched FOX games that would otherwise be blacked out at bars before.
  10. Yes, but Fontenot would probably not put up those numbers as a starter. Maybe, but I think he would have a decent chance of maintaining something pretty close to it. His 130 ABs this year have been very sporadic, so while his power may dip a bit, his average and OBP would probably increase. He's not too far off his PECOTA projection of .282/.357/.431 either.
  11. Knee-jerk much? The two moves won't do anything of the sort. It would be MUCH worse if Marshall were relegated to his previous LOOGY role as he wouldn't be stretched out once Marquis starts to royally suck again. Chillll ETA: There was really no doubt in my mind that Marquis would keep his job over Marshall. Obviously, Marshall as the #5 is a much better option, but given the choice between the two probable outcomes, I'll take this one 8 days a week These were pretty much the points I was trying to make with my last post. For whatever reason they will not send Marquis to the pen regardless of how poorly he pitches. It's frustrating, but we just have to deal with it.
  12. I suspect that Hendry is on the phone with some clubs in an attempt to dump Marquis and his salary. The Yankees were desperate enough to pickup Ponson, maybe they'll take Marquis for a PTBNL. If this is the case, then they will need Marshall stretched out anyway when Marquis is gone. Of course, Gaudin could also be a possibility for a rotation spot if Lou doesn't necessarily have to have two lefties in the rotation.
  13. i know his dad posts here, but come on. Didn't Maddux throw a gem in his first game as a dodger? I'm assuming (hoping) thats what he meant, that Gallagher would have a really good debut. If thats the case, I'll be rooting for him anyway.
  14. The Saturday game has been changed to a 12:05 start, so I'm pretty sure it's not blacked out. Not 100% positive though. Well, normally it has only been the 3:55 EST time games this year that have been blacked out. All the rest of the Saturday games have been shown on mlb.tv. However, looking at ESPN's projected schedule (http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/schedules) it has all 3:55 EST games on FOX as well as the Cubs 1:05 start. So judging by that, then I would think that the cubs will indeed be blacked out Saturday. Looks like it's a sportsbar for me.
  15. Kosuke has had some really bad ABs against lefties lately
  16. My grandparents got me a subscription a few years ago. It was good toilet material, but not much else. I figured as much, thanks.
  17. anybody read the vine line? my uncle got me a subscription when I was like 7, but I haven't picked up a copy since.
  18. Don't look now but Dempster has given up a single run through 6 on only two hits. Sure he was wild and perhaps lucky(not to mention a tight zone), but his stuff is still as good as it has been all year.
  19. OMG CC got so lucky! Caught a weak liner and doubled up the runner at third. Brewers announcer: C.C. really showing his athleticism
  20. Geovany "Rookie NL All-star starting" Soto =D>
  21. he was covered in the magical STL pixie dust that turns anyone, even the sh##@iest players into studs while wearing the Uniform. It's quite remarkable. I need some of that pixie dust. I hate them. I should have punched LaRussa out. LaRussa flipped off my brother back in '92. What'd your brother do? He was 7. He asked for an autograph before a Brewers/A's game in Milwaukee. Tony gave him the finger. screw that! I just assumed your brother cut him off on the road or something. What a classless jerk!
