  1. Guess you might as well stop following them. I might. Hendry failed every move he made this offseason. Our bullpen is a disaster. Our hitting blows. Our SP isn't as good as it was last year. Well then change your name too then
  2. Sorry, I kinda figured it may have been an analogy but couldn't tell for sure. Yes, infuriating. Legitimately concerning in my opinion, not really. It's early and none of the injuries seem to be anything more than minor (i.e. more than a few weeks). They are superbly talented and with time should undoubtedly dominate. Oh yeah, even though they have played terrible and been hampered with injuries they are still over .500.
  3. I officially apologize to anyone that was annoyed with my past pessimistic irrationality. The main reason I visit game threads is to remind myself that no matter how bad I feel during/after a cubs loss, somebody is feeling worse and/or overreacting far more. It's kinda like watching The Jerry Springer Show when you are feeling bad about your own screwed up life to remind you that it could be a whole lot worse. Or you just fail to acknowledge reality and your life (the Cubs) does just suck that bad and you will continue to hold out hope forever. 1) my "life" isn't the cubs. they are important, but not most important 2) take a deep breath and glance at the calendar
  4. wow, impressive stuff manbearcub and butters

  6. I clearly missed something Edit: Oh wait, creepy cards fan? Yes creepy cards fan. And I swear if that cocky piece of (crap) Soriano wins it again for the Cubs I will be upset. Better late than never  And I'm generally upset any time the cards or brewers win. I dislike both of them tremendously.

  8. Tampa's next pick isn't until the third round but if it gets that far, dew (or anybody else really) can feel free to make the pick. I'll be busy until Sunday and I don't think I'll be around to make their pick. I had fun though. Can I go ahead and call SD for next year's draft?
  9. I personally don't consider financial considerations at all. I expect (or really hope) players produce like their track record states they should. Most "high" priced players are paid so much money because they have previously produced great numbers. Thus, I expect numbers close to such said production. I'm positive others approach this "$=production" question in different ways, but I'm not sure why. Everyone should expect what is most likely.
  10. over-reacting NSBB posters
  11. surprising
  12. So now it seems everybody is a Vizcaino fan? If someone is pissed it should be Gaudin. He has/had more upside than Vizcaino and Patton combined, yet he was released because apparently he's a "drunk". As far as this topic, as said prior, Hendry is far from perfect but he's far from incompetent. I think catering to his manager's whims is his biggest downfall but that's just my opinion.
  13. Why do so many people think Fontenot sucks? At worst he's a league average 2B. I can understand the Derosa factor in all this, but what's done is done. Don't hate on him for the hell of it. The whole offense looks like crap presently, lets withhold judgment.
  14. I actually think Mike Aller and the Browns are supposed to have my (Bucs) second pick. I'm way too honest.
  15. This. Looks like I'll be bored out of my mind at work again today. And I've got class tonight so I'll miss the first few innings.
  16. Yeah, go. They're going to do everything they can to get this in. There may be a delay but I don't see them completely canceling the second game in a row. LOL, I always chuckle when I hear this. They're going to do everything they can to get this in? What are they going to do ... change the weather? I think he just means they will wait out a lengthy rain delay if needed so the cubs don't end up getting booked solid from May to August.
  17. too busy posting your meaningless MLB 09 updates in the video game thread? just kidding, I sorta like reading them. I'm not sure why though... :-k
  18. Hmmm...I took Harvin as my homer pick last draft but I have my doubts he can stay healthy. Apparently TB needs help on the defensive side pretty badly as well. I'll switch it up and go: Peria Jerry, DT, Ole Miss
  19. Seriously! On Baseball Tonight (I know, consider the source...) they were talking up all the "division leaders" and whether teams like the Cubs should be worried. Nevermind the fact that they actually still have a winning record. It's ridiculous. It's like trying to predict how worried an NFL team should be after week one. This would actually be more like the first quarter of the week one game. Its way to early. That being said i cringe whenever i see neal cotts coming in Is that new math or East Carolina Pirates math? How did I get dragged into his math? :-k
  20. Ah hell, I won't be able to watch this! I only start watching NBA once the playoffs come around so I guess I'll just have to catch that instead. Go Demps! http://i269.photobucket.com/albums/jj80/daw0521/dempster.jpg?t=1240014869

Not sure what's up with your sig, but I'm pretty sure it offends me. http://deadspin.com/5213674/someone-thinks-that-east-carolina-should-update-its-logo C'mon, I thought it was funny. If it's really offensive, sorry I'll remove it. I forwarded it to my boss, he's an ECU grad and loved it. haha, awesome. No other complaints thus far, guess it stays.
  22. It's the ring-tone on my phone during the baseball season. Sometimes I start to get embarrassed when it goes off in public, but then I realize that I don't give a damn. Most of the people I know find it funny because it's so corny, yet something that only I would have. Come to think of it, what does that say about me? :-k
  23. Soriano should just close his eyes and swing instead. 98 pitches for NL ROY Walters, will they bring him back out next inning?
